REDINGTON FOUNDATION’S 2019 – 2020
STARTED WITH NEW HOPES
Foundation for CSR @ Redington
REDINGTON CSR – CONNECT
May 2019
May – being the academic results month of
every year, the General Election 2019 results
has also become an added anticipation of this
year. Once again people have reposed their
confidence in BJP and Modi in a big way. The
trends indicate unambiguously that grammar
of politics is under transformation.
Class X and XII results were announced
during May’19 and I am glad to receive the
delightful communication from all our
associated schools that the success percentage
is 100 / 100, including Shanthi School students
(Differently Abled Students). It really gives us
a meaningful satisfaction on our
EXCELLENCEproject’s contribution.
Admissions in Colleges, New Class Rooms and
New Environment with New Hopes have
began. We wish all the very best to the
student for their next milestone.
We are happy to share that three XII students
of the Shanthi School are getting admitted in
Rani Anna College, Tirunelveli upon our
request. We take this opportunity to thank the
Principal of Rani Anna College for considering
our request and supporting the children.
We are also delighted to mention that the
“MEANINGFUL EMPLOYMENT CENTRE”,
the new concept for bringing HR to home town
is ready and the 2019 graduates from
our associated colleges in Tirunelveli district
will find a suitable job soon.
In May’19, Dr K. Kasturirangan Committee
submitted the Draft National Education Policy
to the Union HRD Minister. The Government
of India had initiated the process of
formulating a New Education Policy to meet
the changing dynamics of the requirements of
the population with regard to quality
education, innovation and research, aiming to
make India a knowledge superpower by
equipping its students with the necessary
skills and knowledge and to eliminate the
shortage of manpower in science, technology,
academics and industry.
The path breaking reforms recommended will
bring about a paradigm shift by equipping our
students, teachers and educational institutions
with the right competencies and capabilities
and also create an enabling and reinvigorated
educational eco-system for a vibrant new
India.
With a progressive vision, Redington
Foundation initiatives of employability skills
training is committed to meet our social
responsibilities while setting high standards
for all our stakeholders; so as to create a
community which is vibrant and provides
lifelong learning experience and professional
development.

12 TOUCHING THE ABSTRACT
We organized a Capacity Building
Programme in association with
Gandhigram Trust - Avvai Ashram
for the teachers in and around
Sivasailam on the topic
“Understanding The Approaches
And Strategies For Teaching The
Slow Learners” from 7th to 9th May
2019. 20 participants from five
schools participated in the program.
Ms. Umamaheswari, Vertical Head -
Education of Gandhigarm Trust
facilitated the three days
programme.
The objective of the programme is
to make the teachers understand
the approaches and strategies that
can be used towards the slow
learners in order to improve their
academic performances. The
trainer elaborately discussed about
the Importance of Team Work, Role
Play, Method of Teaching, Bonding
with Students, Maintaining
Student's Records, Worksheet
Preparation for Slow Learners,
Time Management, etc.,
The programme also included many
activities based modules, wherein
the participants acquired the
knowledge about Understanding the
Students Mind Set, Psychological
Approach Toward the Slow
Learners, Motivational Techniques,
Creating Interest within the
Students on the subjects he / she is
weak, etc.,
The participants and the
management of Avvai Ashram found
the Capacity Building Program very
useful and important. Mr.
Balamurugan, Deputy
Correspondent of Avvai Ashram
expressed his gratitude for
conducting such a professional
development program for the welfare
of the children who are economically
and socially backward.

In the summer, the children belong to the cities participate in various summer
camps like Art and Craft, Swimming Classes and much more recreational
activities. The parents of those children are also capable enough to pay the
fees of the camps and keep them engaged in the holidays.
The students of the rural areas also have the same interest and eager to
participate in the summer camps, but they neither get the opportunity in their
place nor their parents are able to pay for the camps.
Our foundation is always keen in to transform the longing to happening. Thus
a Summer Camp Program was conducted by our foundation for the students of
Gandigram Trust from 02nd to 08th May 2019. 54 students from Avvai Ashram
and Athri School participated in the program. The students participated in
the camp with full of energy and enthusiasm. The trainers of Pinnacle
Services as usual made the program a remarkable one.

Every individual has the right to dream about their success and every fellow being
has the responsibility to help the dreamer. We at Redington Foundation, always
strive hard to make someone thrive in their life. Today’s aspirer is tomorrow’s
inspirer. We motivate and support such medical aspirers to make their career dream
come true. All the rural medical aspirers are highly ambitious, but their parents are
not able to afford for the required coaching, to crack the NEET entrance examination.
Our foundation identified such aspirers and conducted the NEET Preparatory Course
training for them in the last academic year. 28 trainees underwent the free NEET
Preparatory Course and had also appeared for the NEET examination which was
conducted on 05th May 2019.
PREPARATORY COURSE
These 28 students who underwent the
preparatory course were issued with the books
and study materials as soon as the course was
started. The students were prepared for the
examination by our tutors not only on the
syllabus but also on the strategies that to be
followed to crack the examination. The students
were given frequent model examinations so as to
train them to complete the examination within
the stipulated time.
WE WISH BEST TO ALL OUR STUDENTS
WHO APPEARED FOR THE NEET
EXAMINATION
As per the NEET results declared on 05th June 2019, out of our 28 students, 4 have
scored above 300 marks, 6 have scored above 200 and 8 have scored above 100. The
cut off mark declared by the government is 134 – 107 according to the category. After
the counselling conducted by the government the allotment of seats will be done in
different Medical fields.
We hope the students will get the seats in the expected field and
transform their career dream true. 3

Mr. Lakshminarasimhan,
CSR Lead
Mr. Lakshmi Narasimhan, CSR Lead has
joined our team recently. We are happy to
introduce and share few words about him
in our magazine.
In 1981 he stepped into M/s. Kasturi &
Sons Limited (Props. THE HINDU) in
their Circulation Department as a hard-
core field personnel and steered the path
of growth to the level of Regional General
Manager. During the tenure, Year on year
Sales and best Presentation awards were
won by him. He was identified to take up
the work of launching the first edition of
THE HINDU in Kerala at
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM and he deems
it the greatest success in his career. This
further augmented him as a facilitator to
launch the subsequent editions in Kochi
and Kozhikode.
A good team player, a good learner, a good
listener, hard-working, self-motivated,
dedicated and loyal, and these qualities
blended with required energy has made
him to take up work to support CSR
activities @ Redington.11
Let's all thank the Almighty for all
the good that he has showered on
us. Let's all be contented in what he
has given to us, be it our normal
physical stature, or the
right economic status or a better
Living Condition.
The deprived and the differently
abled are nothing but our fellow
beings and the unfathomable love
and affection they express is beyond
the obvious.
My call is, Hey!! the egoistic human
being do you wish to mellow down,
then please visit our CSR ( Care,
Serve, Reassure, I would like to put
it like that) associated centres like
the Amar Seva Sangam, Ayikudi
and Avvai Ashram, Sivasailam run
by Gandhigram Trust. The sights
that gets implanted in your cornea,
the love that gets etched in your
mind, the right thoughts that gets
engraved in your cranium are all
indelible ones and they just come as
a companion when our morale is at its
lowest ebb and boosts us to a situation
of boom.
The donors in general should feel
elated for serving such institutions
and we must reverently clasp our
hands to the founders and their torch
bearers who continue to run such
great caring centres. I salute the
FOUNDATION FOR CSR @
REDINGTON.
I must reckon here that the team in
Tirunelveli zone has been doing a
great job and I feel good to have
joined the stream to serve the
mankind.
God’s delays are not his denials. The
medical camp for sanitary workers in
Thuthukudi is underway. The
sanitation workers children were
given with school bags at an event
where Sri Sandeep Nanduri, the
District Collector served as the chief
guest. In his address he had all praise
for our foundation.

Enabling and Empowering women in computer knowledge and Tally, seeing
in them a Montessori Teacher are all other areas the RF-CSR is extending in
the region.
We see a lot of potential among the differently abled. They are taught to
do handcrafted materials and even make door mats using manual machines.
The need for appreciation here are the teachers who nurture them to
understand the basic needs of the children to understand, feel and shout out
for their nature calls (biological calls for excretion) and it is for those teachers
the CSR-RF supports. A great service rendered by the teachers and a right
spending too by us.
The yet to gain momentum is the Meaningful Employment Centre (MEC) at
Krishnapuram in Tirunelveli. Exploring the possibilities of placements for the
locals and its surrounding. A sort of an incubation centre, which I feel is sure
to taste success on striking the right unit. A focused approach to this will
bring results.
The team that serves the zone is in the right spirit and track. They have
travelled and come a great distance and are sure to scale new areas as they
are taking the paths that are less travelled.
