As I type, FAIRTRADE

full swing and I would

firstly like to thank all

parents and carers

who have kindly sent

in Fairtrade wrappers and packets –

it’s been fantastic! There has been a

lot of Fairtrade work been done not

only in classrooms but also looking

for Fairtrade products in the local su-

permarket. Several classes have en-

joyed eating FAIRTRADE chocolate

too, but don’t tell everyone!!

We are delighted that our application to be involved in the City Vision 2050

The Festival Theatre have invited the Special Schools to put on another ‘Awfey Huge Variety Show’, after the huge success of last year’s Show.

Pilrig Park are going to perform a dance routine and auditions for dancers will be taking place in the next few weeks!! We are fortunate enough to have the support of Dancebase once again and Nico has started coming here on a Friday to teach some funky moves!!

The date of the Show is Friday 16th June 2017 at 7pm. Tickets can be purchased through the Edinburgh Festival Theatre Box Office.

Any further details from Mrs Ferguson.

JAZZ JIGSAW

‘Awesome’ is a great word to describe the performance last night at the Queen’s Hall!!

Daniel, Lauren, Mason, Magnus, Josh and Sam played alongside pupils from the Edin-burgh Schools Jazz Orchestra as well as a small group from Braidburn School - in front of a live audience! They can now say they have performed in their first real ‘gig’!!

The atmosphere was amazing and our pupils did themselves proud. Well done!

Also please can you wash and return any school jogging bottoms/ clothing items that your child has borrowed. Many thanks.

Visit

The Acting Head of Children’s Services, Andy Jeffries visited our school on 28th of Febru-ary. Pupils, Frankie and Zeeshaan were total stars discussing Children’s Rights and per-sonal issues such as racism and abuse of children. I only wish I had recorded it all!! Thank you to Ms Kirkwood for working with them and Ms Kirkwood and Ms Saywer for the work on Children’s Rights with the Pupil Council. Andy was then given a quick tour of the school.
