He was an outstanding performer at ANU, and has made use of his ANU studies to great effect since he graduated. I first met Mr Crewther in his capacity as a graduate student in the Master of Diplomacy program run by the Asia-Pacific College of Diplomacy at the Australian National University. He obtained a Distinction and three High Distinction grades in his Master of Diplomacy program, and on July 17, 2009, graduated with the degrees of Master of Diplomacy and Master of Laws. He was also awarded the James Ingram Prize for Excellence in Diplomatic Studies In all his work, Mr Crewther was extremely well organised and lucid in exposition. His writings were meticulously prepared, thoroughly up-to-date, and put on display his ability to answer complex questions with arguments supported by evidence. For the course on ‘Contemporary Challenges in Diplomacy’, he produced the most comprehensive and compelling exam paper I have seen in all my years of teaching, which pointed to a highly-developed capacity to produce quality work in the face of time pressures. On completing his studies at the ANU, he worked under the auspices of the United Nations as an International Legal Officer in Kosovo, and he is currently working as a political and legislative adviser to an Australian Senator. He is also a Board Member of Global Voices, a not-for-profit organization fostering international engagement on the part of young Australians. These activities are all reflections of his deep interest in the wider world, of a kind that mirrors the ANU’s commitment to internationalization. I would add that Chris is an extremely personable individual, and a superb ambassador for what the ANU can offer. His achievements richly deserve further recognition, Yours sincerely, ASIA-PACIFIC COLLEGE OF DIPLOMACY

TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN

I am delighted to recommend Mr Christopher Crewther for the distinction of ANU Young Alumnus of the Year.

He was also awarded the James Ingram Prize for Excellence in Diplomatic Studies

In all his work, Mr Crewther was extremely well organised and lucid in exposition.

His achievements richly deserve further recognition,

Yours sincerely,

Professor William Maley, AM FASSADirector, Asia-Pacific College of Diplomacy
