Dion Hrynewich, Principal Tammy Sillers, Vice Principal Believing Everyone can Succeed To Whom it May Concern, It has been my pleasure and fortune to teach with Jillian Engele. Jillian interned at Balgonie Elementary School in the two Grade 5 classrooms. There were 30 students in each class with a wide range of learning abilities. Jillian had the opportunity to teach all subjects. Jillian used internship to develop her teaching skills to the fullest. She became very familiar with the curriculums of the core subjects and added her personal touch to make her lessons motivating and intriguing! The range of student abilities in the classroom was managed well as individual differences were addressed and activities were adapted to meet student needs. A variety of teaching and assessment skills and strategies were implemented that generated a high level of interest and abilities. Daily lesson plans and unit plans were thorough and well organized during internship Classroom management was established and built on during internship, as Jillian used many strategies and tools to encourage positive behaviour. She developed strong relationships with the students and motivated each one to work to the best of their ability. Her interpersonal skills were demonstrated in her interactions with the students, parents and staff. She handled parent situations and student conflicts in a confident and professional manner. During the three-way conferences it was obvious that Jillian was comfortable discussing students’ successes and needs. Jillian is a pleasant, responsible, caring individual who demonstrates a strong commitment to teaching and would be an asset to any school environment. In addition to her teaching assignment, she got involved in extracurricular activities such as SLC and helping with the Christmas concert. While I have only known Jillian a short time, I am confident her personal and professional attributes, teaching abilities and amazing organization would make her an asset to any school. Jillian deserves my highest recommendation and I wish her the best in her teaching career. The students in our classroom and Jillian`s future are very fortunate.
