Midland Ancestors is the concise name for the BMSGH. Reference Library Catalogue The Midland Ancestors library is housed in the Kingsley Norris Room on the ground floor of the Birmingham and Midland Institute in Margaret Street, Birmingham. Users are advised, especially if travelling from a distance, to check by telephone that the volunteer librarian is on duty. The phone number for the Librarian is to be found in your Members’ Annual Programme Booklet. The catalogue is presented and indexed in a number of different orders:– Classification Chapman Code (county/country) Category Author The Classification, Category and Chapman codes are listed separately. The press, shelf and item number are given to enable each item to be located within the library. Within Adode Reader, it is possible to carry out more detailed searching by using the ‘Find’ tool. However, more advanced searching using combinations of words, is available on the catalogue search program on the computer in the Reference Library.
