reflection task 1
DESCRIPTION
Reflection task 1. What is an effective teacher? An effective teacher is the one that is able to adapt his/her methodologies, activities and strategies in order to make the learning process easier and more comprehensible for students. Also he/she must be capable of adapting the contents to students’ context and level. Hence, an effective teacher needs to have the appropriate knowledge about students' background and the contents that are going to be taught, and also he/she must prepared for the class. Otherwise, teachers are going to improvise in the classroom and their performances are not going to be successful. 2. What does effective learning mean for you? From my point of view, effective learning means that the teaching-learning process has finished successfully. In other words, the learning process is effective when students achieve the goal of the class. But effectiveness not necessarily must be express through marks. We can find evidence of learning during the class through students’ responses and behaviour. 3. What does the Chilean education system need to be successful? Chilean education system needs to make a complete change. First of all, the admission requirements for pedagogy programs should be higher. This means that those who enter to study pedagogy are the ones who are really interested in becoming teachers. Second, not only teachers’ preparation should change but also society’s mind. Chileans see this profession as the least important, even though this career is one of the most important, this is because teachers not only teach contents but also train students in terms of moral values, giving support and guidance. Finally, people should value teachers’ work, because it is a hard work that demands many time and preparation. 4. How do you hope to contribute to the national education system? I hope that my work contributes to a change of the way that Chileans see education. I would like to focus on the learner rather than the marks, making the students’ development the main point of the class instead of classified them with a score.TRANSCRIPT
