From The Executive Director Written by Lynn Tanner, CMCA, AMS

The Town of Lysander (TOL) has advised us

of the following road pav-ing projects for Radisson this year: Marinus Drive, Fields End Drive, Pasture Gate and Columbine Circle. As of this printing, they expected to begin milling the roads on July 10, with the paving to begin shortly thereafter. This infor-mation was sent to residents via our website, with a post on our Association News.

I’d like to remind residents that walk the community path-ways about the determination made regarding the commu-nity’s crosswalks. Other than private drives, the roads within the Radisson Community are owned and maintained by the Town of Lysander. Radisson has nearly fifty locations through-out the community in which our pathway system crosses a Town road. A few years ago, we were advised by the Lysander Town Attorney that the Radisson pathways are consid-ered private pathways, and not public sidewalks, therefore the crossings are not recognized as “pedestrian crosswalks”, as per the New York State Dept. of Transportation guidelines. Since this determination was made, the Town of Lysander no longer stripes the roads where our pathways cross. So, as streets are newly paved each year, the white lines indi-cating a crosswalk that may have existed there will now be gone. Therefore, on alternating years, the RCA has a notable “warning stripe” painted at the end of each pathway, where it enters a roadway, to give pedestrians a visual aid that they are exiting the pathway system and entering a road-way. This pathway striping was completed this spring. Please note: the one exception to the above is the official pedestrian

crosswalk at the 4-way inter-section of Deep Glade Drive and Esprit Glade – in front of Kerri Hornaday Memorial Park.

While out on the trails, if you happen to be walking the pathway off of Braewood Drive (behind Walpole Lane and Amberlea Lane), you’ll see that several trees have been tagged with blue or pink ribbon and/or spray-paint. As per the community’s Emerald Ash Borer (EAB) Management Plan, the Board of Directors is having selected areas of RCA Common Property inventoried and trees marked for removal, or treatment, by a certified arborist, under the approval of the Architectural Standards Committee and the RCA Board of Directors. This is being done as part of our ongoing, proac-tive approach to the Emerald Ash Borer in the community.

RCA staff marked RCA-owned ash trees proposed for removal with orange spray paint on the base. Trees deter-mined to be candidates for treatment have been marked with a blue ribbon. These trees have been evaluated by a certified arborist and will be reviewed by the Board of Directors. As a courtesy, ash trees (just those along the property borderline) on nearby private properties have been marked with a pink ribbon to help property owners deter-mine which trees they own.

We are encouraging resi-dents that border this com-mon property parcel to work in conjunction with the RCA to take actions now to address the ash trees on their prop-erty. Whether consider-ing treatment or removal of the ash tree(s), residents are asked to notify the RCA of their intentions. We have been advised by the arbor-ist we are working with that time is of the essence. A plan of action to treat (if the tree

is still healthy) or have the tree removed safely should be made soon. Many trees observed are already infested with the borer.

The Radisson Community Association considers our trees to be one of our great-est resources. While the com-munity’s natural beauty is extremely important to us, equally important is residents’ safety and protection of per-sonal property. You can find a variety of information on this subject on our website on the Trees in Radisson page, under the Community Pages menu.

To be able to use the pool this year, all Photo ID’s need to have an “RCA 2019” sticker on them. The sticker can be obtained by having your enroll-ment confirmed at the RCA Office or at the pool desk. If you are new to the community and have not had your Photo ID taken yet, we suggest you utilize our “Preferred Photo ID Sessions” to expedite the process! The last Preferred Photo ID Session is this week-end. On Saturday, July 13 and Sunday, July 14 from 1:00pm to 5:00pm, a designated staff member will be at the Oberon Pool to process residents’ Photo ID’s.

We certainly don’t want to rush summer, but we are already looking forward to our annual Founder’s Day celebration. This year, while we are celebrating the com-munity’s 45th Anniversary, we are especially pleased to bring you some homegrown musical entertainment! Our head-liner will be Six-Pack, a group whose members consist main-ly of residents and corporate park members from Anheuser-Busch {hence the name!}. We will also be having an opening act, Kyle Micho, resident and former Radisson Lifeguard and Summer Rec Counselor.

Once again, the response from local businesses inter-ested in sponsoring Founder’s Day has been overwhelming! Please take a moment to see below the businesses which have committed to one of our sponsorship levels. We thank them….and we ask YOU to thank them also! Please check the list in each issue of the Reflections, as more sponsors are continuing to contact us. If you or your business is inter-ested in becoming a sponsor of this year’s community event, please contact us at [email protected].

Letter to the EditorSubmitted by Lysander Town Clerk Dina Falcone

Greetings:I am writing to

update you on the outreach plans for the New York Public Interest Research Group Fund, Inc. (NYPIRG).

NYPIRG, as you may know, is a non-partisan corporation orga-nized in 1976 under the New York State Not-For-Profit Corporation Law. NYPIRG’s areas of concern

i n c l u d e c o n s u m e r p r o t e c -tion, envi-ro n m e nta l p r e s e r v a -tion, pub-lic health and several other pub-lic policy

issues. As a charitable organiza-tion, NYPIRG files annual financial reports under the provisions of the New York State Executive Law, Article 7-A, with the state Office of the Attorney General. NYPIRG has been issued a determination letter from the Internal Revenue Code that we are tax exempt under Internal Revenue Code sec-tion 501(c)(3). Contributions to NYPIRG are tax deductible.

We anticipate conducting our door-to-door outreach in your community for a brief period between June 25th and August 31st. Our activities will be con-ducted between the hours of 4:00pm and 9:00pm, and entail circulating support statements, collecting small contributions, dis-tributing information and recruit-

ing support (letters, calls, partici-pation) on a variety of issues of concern to the community.

Your office will receive a list of our employees’ names and addresses before we begin work-ing in your community. As always, we will coordinate our outreach activities with those of other orga-nizations to ensure we are contact-ing residents in the most profes-sional manner. We also share a list of our authorized representatives with local police departments.

This letter represents part of our commitment to cooperat-ing fully with local municipalities while we are conducting our out-reach efforts. Toward that end, I ask that you please send writ-ten confirmation of this letter to [email protected] for our

files. If you have any questions or need more information, do not hesitate to call me at (315) 236-2012.

Thank you for your attention to this request.

Sincerely,Ali KirkpatrickOutreach Supervisor

Please Note...

Dear Residents,With the warm damp weather we have had so far, mosquitoes

are not only a nuisance, but they are a threat to the health of our community. As such, I am pleased to announce that once again the Onondaga County Water Conservation District has delivered to my office a new supply of Mosquito Beater, a Bonide product, in water soluble pouches.

Upon dissolving the pouches, thousands of floating granules quickly and evenly release an active ingredient across the surface of any standing water, ornamental ponds, flower pots, rain barrels, and

old tires. The Onondaga County Water Conservation District has pro-vided these items to my office free of charge, and they are available to property owners or lessees in Lysander free of charge as well. So please stop by the Town Clerk’s Office and pick up a package while supplies last.

Be sure to refer to our website www.townlysander.org for messag-es and hours of operation, or call my office with questions: 638-0224.
