Immerse yourself in the glory of one of the world’s most famous and esteemed museums housing a seemingly endless array of priceless artworks and exhibitions as well as being an architectural gem in itself. On leaving the museum you will walk through the Palace Square passing the red granite Alexander Column, a monument commemorating Russia’s victory over Napoleon.

The summer residence of the imperial family is one of St Petersburg’s top attractions and for good reason. Its opulent rooms and galleries are a sight to behold with highlights of this tour including the superb white marbled Grand Staircase and the spectacular baroque Great Hall.

N HELSINKI – SUOMENLINNA FORTRESS | 3 hrs

The largest fortifi cation in Finland, Suomenlinna spans several small islands

in Helsinki harbour. Built during the Swedish rule of Finland to protect the country against invasion from Russia, the 18th century fortress is so impressive it’s been deemed a UNESCO

World Heritage Site. The complex is really a city within the city of Helsinki

boasting its own library, health centre, fi re brigade and school.
