moving forward with plans to hold the REGION 2 PRE

SHOW AND CHAMPIONSHIP SHOW on June 16-21, 2020.

After many months of staying-at-home and self

isolation because of the Covid-19 pandemic, we are

hoping that you will consider and are able to join our

extended Arabian family & friends in Santa Barbara.

If we follow the Covid-19 guidelines, we can all stay

safe by using social distancing and enjoy our event.

Entry Fee $50 Open to any age rider who has never shown a horse before. Open to Arabians & HA/AA horses in any discipline/division (exception: driving). Horse can belong to anyone (used with their permission!) To be judged on the equitation and pleasure rules for that division together with whatever else the judge decides! Amateur definition and lot of rules are not applicable. Clothes and tack not to count (but “CLEVER” does)! Headers for lead line riders must be able to control and lead the horse at a trot. Safety is priority. Depending upon our mood at the time, horses may be worked one or both ways of the ring.

ENTRY FORM INFORMATION • Official Entry Form for this Show MUST be used; forms must be complete. ONE OWNER per Form. No

HORSE may be entered on more than one Form. Owners that have horses with several different trainers will be required to pay office fee per entry form per trainer.

• INCLUDE copies of REGISTRATION PAPERS for each horse entered. • Farm name may be used if the stable or farm is the bona fide owner appearing on the horse’s registration

papers. The owner must have an AHA Business membership and that owner AHA number must be used. The owner must have a USEF Farm ID# or Farm Recording Certificate and one of the owner’s must be a qualified USEF member. Copies of AHA Business membership card, USEF Farm ID# or Certificate must be submitted with the entry.

• Horses entered in AMATEUR OWNER and JUNIOR OWNER classes must be registered in the name of

competitor or member of competitor’s family. • *TWO DISTINCT NON FAMILY OWNERS MAY CO-OWN AND SHOW A HORSE IN AAOTR, AOTR or

JOTR classes except that no family member or a professional may enter into this relationship (*new 2019). Non family is defined as two distinct individuals who are not related as family. Horse must be registered as an “AND” ownership relationship, not “OR”. Both co-owners of horse must have current USEF Amateur membership. No Farm or Corporation co-owned horses are eligible (see USEF AR110 4e)

• Every Owner, Exhibitor, Trainer & Rider/Driver/Handler or his/her agent(s) must sign the back of the entry

blank. In the case of a Rider/Driver/Handler under 18, his/her parent or guardian, or if not available, the trainer, must sign the entry blank on minor’s behalf (Junior Owners are not eligible—adult must sign as trainer)

• Walk Trot riders must list their birth dates on the back of the entry form under the parent signature. If address

of Walk Trot rider is different than owner listed on entry form, please write the Walk Trot rider address on the back of entry form.

• INCLUDE copies of current AHA COMPETITION membership cards for Trainer, Rider, Handler, Driver, Junior

SHOW INFORMATION - REGION 2 CHAMPIONSHIP SHOW QUALIFICATION INFORMATION - Horses must be issued a Certificate of Registration from the Arabian Horse Association, the Canadian Arabian Horse Registry, or Canadian Part-bred Arabian Registrar & OWNED by a member of the Arabian Horse Association. All horses entering any Regional Amateur Owner (AO, AAO, JO) Championship class must have been qualified by an Amateur Owner. It is the responsibility of the Amateur Owner to abide by this rule. All horses entering any Regional Amateur (ATR, AATR, JTR) Championship class must have been qualified by an Amateur. It is the responsibility of the Amateur to abide by this rule.

See AHA Handbook Chapter 11, 12 & 13 –The points/score listed on the National Class List for Regional classes must be obtained in the same AHA Section listed in the AHA Standard Class List. The Point System as reflected on the National Class List is implemented for all Regional classes. The number of points a horse receives is based on the number of horses shown and judged. Horses will earn one point for every horse in the class. Regional Top Five, Champion or Reserve Champion does not qualify a horse for a Regional Championship Class. Points, scores and placing from shows other than Regional shows will count for Regional show qualifications. POINTS for qualifications will be awarded to horses placing first thru sixth only. In addition to points, Regional Shows allow qualifications by earning ONE FIRST PLACE RIBBON OR ONE SECOND PLACE RIBBON. *QUALIFICATIONS have been WAIVED for the Region 2 Championship Show for 2020. Any points or placing earned at this Championship show will be recorded as qualifications from 2020. RECOVERY FEE – New 2020 Every horse competing in the Region 2 Championship Show will be charged $25.00 per horse to compensate for the revenues lost due to show cancellations earlier this year. The AHA Recovery Fee will apply to horses entered in the Regional Championship Show only and will be sent directly to AHA. REGIONAL AWARD CONDITIONS - A Champion and Reserve Champion plus three additional unranked awards shall be made in each Regional Class to make a Top Five. Region 2 Championship Show will give a FULL TOP FIVE awards to each class regardless of how many entries are competing at the close of the gate. Top Five awards will be made regardless of the number of entries in a class. However, only awards made to the top 50% of the class (rounded up and not to exceed 5 awards) will receive Arabian Breeders Sweepstakes payout, AHA Horse Achievement Award, Amateur Achievement Awards, High Point Horse Achievement Award, High Point Amateur Achievement Award and Distance Award Points. SWEEPSTAKES CLASSES - Arabian Breeders Sweepstakes Allocated prize money is available for horses properly entered in the Sweepstakes program at the time of competing in said class. See additional information in this book. All Breeders Sweepstakes prize money will be mailed directly from AHA. TBA (To Be Announced) CLASS INFORMATION – In an effort to be exhibitor friendly and provide our exhibitors with classes that are not included in these show schedules, Region 2 is offering TBA classes in both the Pre Show and the Championship Show. There will be TEN SLOTS offered in the Pre Show & TEN SLOTS offered in the Championship Show on a first come, first served basis. ANY CLASS ON THE AHA CLASS LIST or that is recognized by AHA can be considered for a TBA class with the exception of Dressage, Sport Horse, Cutting, Working Cow & Reined Cow. (See www.arabianhorses.org for list) Once the class has been activated, all exhibitors will be informed by letter (if times allows) or by posting a notice in the show office at the show. At that time, all exhibitors will have the opportunity to enter the activated class at the TBA class fee (Pre Show $75 TBA Class Entry Fee / Championship Show $125 TBA Class Entry Fee). If TBA added class is a Sweepstakes allocated class, be advised that the class will not receive Sweepstakes payout.

SHOW INFORMATION STABLING INFORMATION - The Stable Area of the Earl Warren Show Grounds will be open to exhibitors SATURDAY, June 13th through SUNDAY JUNE 21st. Exhibitors are to vacate the show grounds by noon on June 22nd. Stabling will be allocated on the basis of horses entered in the show by the Close of Entries – MAY 27th. Assignments of stalls are entirely at the prerogative of the Show Management. Horses must be placed in stalls assigned and no changes will be permitted without the express consent of the Barn Manager. Stalls for post entered horses may be subject to availability. All permanent box stalls are 12X12’ & either have a full door or doors with split top & bottom door. *BE ADVISED: Regarding stall requests for horses entered after May 27th or post entered late and requesting stabling with other horses previously entered, original stalling assignments will not be changed to accommodate the late entry. Management will try to stable late entries as close as possible to other entries but no guarantees can be made. Show management's decision is final. BE ADVISED – There are 575 stalls available on the Earl Warren Show Grounds. NO portable stills will be added or available. It may be necessary to limit tack rooms and/or groom rooms. SUBMIT YOUR ENTRIES EARLY. This charge is in compliance with Earl Warren Show Grounds contract. All money collected goes to the 19th Agricultural District of State of California. Neither Region 2 nor the horse show has any control over the amounts charged nor do we recognize any income from the fees. FEED & BEDDING – Region 2 will NOT provide first bedding for stalls. WARM UP TRAIL CLASSES Entry Fee $20 per horse & rider combination per class. Warm Up Trail Classes will commence at 7:00 a.m. on Thursday and Saturday. Back number must be worn. Each entry will have a maximum of 4 minutes to practice on course. At two minute intervals, another horse/rider combination will be allowed on the course to practice for 4 minutes. No more than 2 horses will be on course at the same time. Warm-up Trail practice will be stopped at 8:45 AM to start Trail classes at 9:00 AM.

This class is OPEN to ALL ages of In Hand Western or English Trail Horses. Judges should consider overall appearance of the horse while being led. For safety reasons, those handlers continuously holding the chain on the lead, tightly coiling the lead shank around the hand, or dragging the lead shank must be penalized. There is no rail work. The course will include a walk and jog/trot of suitable duration to determine the way of going. Trail course should be designed to be negotiated in ninety (90) seconds.

AHA MEMBERSHIP STATEMENT – EACH COMPETITOR (THIS INCLUDES AT LEAST ONE RECORDED OWNER AND ALL TRAINERS, DRIVERS, RIDERS, HALTER HANDLERS, COACHES AND THE PERSON(S) SIGNING THE ENTRY BLANK) IN AN ARABIAN HORSE ASSOCIATION RECOGNIZED ARABIAN DIVISION, AT THE TIME OF ENTRY INTO A COMPETITION, MUST SUMIT A COPY OF A VALID AHA MEMBERSHIP/COMPETITION CARD, JOIN AHA OR PAY AN AHA SINGLE EVENT MEMBERSHIP FEE PER COMPETITOR. WHEN AN AGENT SIGNS FOR THE OWNER AT AN AHA RECOGNIZED COMPETITION, BOTH THE OWNER AND THE AGENT MUST BE MEMBERS OF AHA OR PAY THE AHA SINGLE EVENT MEMBERSHIP. REGION 2 CHAMPIONSHIP SHOW - CURRENT AHA COMPETITION MEMBERSHIP IS A REQUIRED TO PARTICIPATE IN THE REGION 2 CHAMPIONSHIP SHOW. US EQUESTRIAN FEDERATION STATEMENT - Life, senior active and junior active members shall be eligible to participate in all classes at Regular Competitions, Eventing Competitions at the Preliminary Level or above and Combined Driving Competitions at the Advanced Level, Dressage, Reining and Vaulting Competitions and Endurance Rides. A nonmember may participate as a handler, rider, driver, owner, lessee, agent, coach or trainer at Regular Competitions, Eventing Competitions, Dressage Competitions, Reining Competitions and Combined Driving Competitions upon payment of a $30 Show Pass fee. Participants in the following classes are exempted from the Requirements of this rule: 1) lead line; 2) exhibitions; 3) games and races; 4) classes for 4-H members; 5) walk trot and academy classes (academy classes are classes limited to horses used regularly in a lesson program); 6) USDF introductory level tests, pas de deux and quadrille classes; 7) NRHA Endorsed Reining Competitions. 8) Opportunity classes, 9) citizens of other nations who have proof, in English, of current membership in good standing of their own National Federation, 10) USEA beginner novice division; and 11) assistant handlers in Dressage Sport Horse Breeding classes. USEF MEMBERSHIP REQUIREMENTS - Copies of every owner's, trainer's, rider's, driver's and breeding/In-hand halter handler's current USEF Membership Cards MUST be included with the horse show entry form at the time of entry. A non-member, who wishes to participate as a rider, driver, handler, vaulter, longeur, owner, lessee, agent, coach or trainer at a Regular Competitions must pay a Show Pass Fee for each competition in which competing. Lessees are considered owners in connection with this membership requirement. In the event of an entry have multiple owners, only one owner need be a Member or pay a Show Pass Fee. The amount of the Show Pass fee will be established annually by the Federation. Unless otherwise established, the fee will be $45.00 and must be collected by all appropriate competitions and remitted to the Federation. A Senior Active Member is those Members who are at least 18 years of age. Their annual dues are $80.00. A Junior Active Member is those Members who have not reached their 18th birthday as provided for in GR127. Their annual dues at $80.00 USEF AMATEUR CERTIFICATION – Only active Federation members may obtain amateur status. Every person who has reached his/her 18th birthday and competes in classes for amateurs under Federation rules must possess current amateur status issued by the Federation. There is no additional fee for amateur status for Senior Active or Life Members. 26

GENERAL INFORMATION

ACHIEVEMENT AWARD POINTS – This show is recognized by the Arabian Horse Assn. enabling exhibitors to receive Achievement Award Points in all USEF approved classes. ADMISSION TO RING - No person will be permitted to enter the ring except participants in the class, judges, and their assistants and show officials. Attendants and grooms may enter the ring only when summoned by order of the judge. In all cases requiring grooms or other assistants, proper attire is required. AHA RECOVERY FEE – 2020 – Because of the Coronavirus pandemic, many AHA horse shows have been canceled. AHA has created a one time Recovery Fee of $25.00 per horse that is entered & shown at a Regional Championship Show. This fee will be sent directly to AHA to help subsidize the loss of income from 9/90 fees, results fees, etc. due canceled shows. AMATEUR OWNER FAMILY DEFINITION - An Amateur Owner Class is one in which every contestant is an Amateur & the rider, driver or handler is the Owner or an Amateur Member of the owner's family. "Family" includes husband, wife, parent, stepparent, child, brother, stepchild, sister, half-brother & sister, aunt, uncle, niece, nephew, grandmother, grandfather and in-laws of the same relation as stated. Combined ownership is NOT permitted in Amateur/Owner classes unless all owners are members of the same family. LEASED horses are NOT eligible. AMATEUR OWNER CLASSES - Horses entered in an Amateur Owner or Junior Owner class MUST be registered in the name of the competitor or a member of the competitor’s family (as defined by USEF GR123). Horses registered in a farm/partnership/corporation name may be shown in Amateur Owner classes provided the family is the sole owner of the farm or entity. The sale of a horse does not eliminate this registration requirement. Contract or Bill of Sale will NOT be accepted. TWO UNRELATED OWNERS SHOWING IN OWNER CLASSES –Two non related owners listed on registration papers can be shown in Owner Classes. Ownership MUST be an AND relationship (not an OR relationship). Co-ownership is limited to two distinct individuals (no farms or business entities). No family member or a professional may enter into this relationship. Family members of these two co-owners are NOT permitted to show in owner classes. BOTH owners must have current USEF & Amateur membership. ARENA DIMENSIONS – The Main Arena is 125’ X 250’. The El Camino Arena is 125’ X 225’. Mountain View Arena & and the warm-up arena are each 125’ X 250’. ARENA FOOTINGS (NEW FOOTING IN 2020) - The footing in the Dome arena, Mountain View and warm-up arenas consists of a sand mix The footing in the El Camino arena consists of a mixture of sand, organic material and dirt. BREEDING/IN-HAND CHAMPIONSHIPS – Yearlings (FILLIES, COLTS & GELDINGS) may compete for Show Champion & Reserve (New 2018) CALIFORNIA DRUG FEE (new 2020) – An $8.00 fee per horse will be collected for California Drug Testing. CONDITION OF ENTRIES - All entries, except entries in equitation and showmanship classes must be serviceably sound. All horses must be in good condition. Horses with loss of sight in one eye may compete in any class except Breeding/Gelding In-Hand classes and Sport Horse In-Hand Classes. No horse may compete in a class in the Arabian Division with a tail carriage that has been altered in any manner or by any means. Violations of this rule are considered serious infractions, because such alterations constitute misrepresentation of the breed type. No horse may compete in a class in the Arabian Division with any chemical or other Irritant of any kind present on its anus, vulva, rectal area or vaginal area, regardless of the origin of the irritant and whether it was applied or its presence resulted from dietary, environmental or unknown origins, and whether the horse’s tail carriage was affected by its presence. Any action against the horse by an exhibitor, which are deemed excessive by a judge, Federation steward or competition veterinarian, in the competition ring or anywhere on the competition grounds may be punished by official warning, elimination or other sanctions which may be deemed appropriate by the show committee. Such action could include, but are not limited to excessive use of whip, spurs or bamboo poles. Judges must eliminate from judging consideration any horse which shows aggression or discontent toward its handler, rider or any person in the ring. A judged must order from the ring any rider, driver or handler who exhibits inappropriate or dangerous behavior or whose actions would in any way threaten the safety of the exhibitor, their entries or the safety of class officials. Horses showing signs of undue stress or inhumane treatment must be penalized. The exhibition of a horse that has a cut or abrasion showing clear evidence of fresh blood in the mouth, nose, chin, shoulder, barrel, flank or hip area must be considered to be ineligible to receive an award in that respective class. Judges must excuse from the ring any horse that possesses a whip mark (welt) on any portion of the horse.
