AUSTRALIA DAY AWARDS Australia Day Awards for Citizen of the Year, Young Citizen of the Year and Community Event of the Year are presented at community events held on Australia Day. Nominations are called in early September for the four Wards and will be received up to the first week in November (Check at Council offices or Council’s website for the closing date). Nomination forms are available from the Council offices and/or can be downloaded from Council’s website.

C CATS Lost/Found Council does not collect found or lost cats and is unable to assist in the disposal of cats. The Council area is divided into 4 Wards – Hallett, Burra, Robertstown and Eudunda. Local Government elections are held every four years. Council Elected Members Refer to list on page 20. Council Staff Refer to list on page 19. Council Meetings Meetings commence at 1.00 pm, with public question time being allocated between 1.00 pm – 1:30 pm. Council meetings are normally held on the 3rd Tuesday of each month commencing at 1.00 pm in the Council Meeting Room, Burra. The public are welcome to attend all Council meetings. Committees and Working Parties Council Committees and Working Parties meet regularly to discuss various issues and to make recommendations to the full Council. Council Logo The logo concept depicts the iconic farmhouse ruin and the rolling hills of the Goyder Region. The farmhouse ruin is a reflective historic legacy of the region’s agricultural progress and its relationship with Goyder’s Line. The colour palette of the rolling hills reflects the changing seasonal landscape across the region and has been given a modern touch with stylised illustration. D DEAD ANIMALS Arrangements will be made to remove dead animals if they are on Council property, or Council’s reserves and roadsides. Contact Technical Services. 8892 0100 DEVELOPMENT Development Plan All development applications are assessed against the Goyder (Regional Council) Development Plan having regard to the Zoning of the particular parcel of land to be developed. For further information contact the Development Officer - Planning 8892 0100 Development Applications All development applications to undertake building work (new, additions, demolition) are assessed against the relevant building codes and standards. For further information contact the Development Officer - Planning. A development application must be lodged prior to undertaking the work. Assessment of applications can be undertaken in various stages - Development Plan (Planning) Consent; Waste Water Control Systems (Sewerage) Applications/Approval; Building Rules Consent. Before commencing any construction work it is essential to identify the location of any underground pipes and cables in the proposed work area. Find out first with the DIAL BEFORE YOU DIG service. Underground pipe and cable locations can be provided within two working days. Damaging underground pipes and cables can be a costly exercise not just for you but also the community. Lost Dogs Contact the Council if you have lost your dog, or have found a lost dog, if you wish to identify your dog or have a dog released. A Council issued permit is required for burning outside of these designated hours. Fire Danger Season (normally 15th November to 30th April) - All fires in the open are banned except by permit issued by an Authorized Fire Permit Officer. For further information, contact Council’s Fire Prevention Officer. 8892 0100 Banners, Flags, Advertising Signs Permission is required to erect banners, flags and advertising signs. Contact Council. 8892 0100 Events A special event permit is required for all activities conducted on Council owned land and footpaths.
