Lower Silurian shales are the main source rocks for conventional petroleum systems

in the Baltic Basin. Together with Cambrian and Ordovician shales, they provide

highly prospective sources also for unconventional oil and gas.

Two samples from the Silurian of Lithuania have been analysed following the

PhaseKinetics approach.

Additionally, first and second level screening data from Rock-Eval and pyrolysis gas

chromatography are supplied for 26 samples from Lithuania. For 8 of these samples

Late Gas Potential is determined.

GEOS4´s Baltic-Paleozoic PhaseFinder package allows the combination of source

specific compositional predictions of petroleum with petroleum system modelling.

The correct reproduction of petroleum phase behaviour represents a major step

forward in modelling fluid generation, migration and accumulation in this complex

setting.
