Rickard, life long resident of Ridgway, died at the h ome of his daughter, Mrs. Andrew Luchs, in Jamestown, N.Y., this mornin g at 4:10 o'clock. His age was 79.

The funeral will be held Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Van Ake n Funeral Chapel in Ridgway, the Rev. Bruce L. Middaugh, of Trinity Met hodist Church officiating. Interment in Oak Mount Cemetery.

Mr. Rickard had been bedfast since October 1941 but had been in ill hea lth for the last eighteen years. He spent ten months in the Elk County G eneral Hospital before going to Jamestown last November to live with hi s daughter.

Born in Ridgway May 21, 1864, Mr. Rickard spent his entire life in this p lace and owned a farm onthe Montmorenci road where he conducted a dair y for a number of years until ill health caused him to give up farming a nd live a retired life.

On May 10, 1886 he married Augusta Johnson, who passed away May 29, 193 6. To them the following children were born: Meda Coleson, Mrs. Clyde W ilson, Mrs. Harry P. Anderson, Walter Rickard, Ridgway; Roy Rickard, Du Bois; Mrs. Andrew Luchs, Jamestown, N.Y.; Carl Rickard, serving with th e Merchant Marine, somewhere in the Pacific.

A daughter, Mrs. Fred Luchs, died in April 1937. He also leaves 33 gra ndchildren, 24 great grandchildren, and one niece, Mrs. Zelma Franyz, o f Ridgway. Five grandsons are serving in the armed forces.

Rickard, long time resident of this pla ce, who died Friday morning at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Andrew Lu chs of Jamestown, N.Y., were held Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the V an Aken Funeral Chapel. The Rev. Bruce L. Middaugh, pastor of the Meth odist church, officiated.

Women Dies at Early Hour

Mrs. Oscar Rickard Expires in HospitalWhere she had been surgical patient - Funeral Sunday afternoon

Mrs. Oscar Rickard, long time resident of Ridgway, died in the Elk Co unty General Hospital this morning at 8:35 o'clock, where she had been a s urgical patient for a week. Had she lived until July 14th she would ha ve reached the age of 70 years.

Funeral services will be held Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the r esidence of her daughter, Mrs. Harry Anderson, 515 West Main Street, an d from the Swiss Reformed Church at 2:30 o'clock. Burial will be in Oa k Mount Cemetery. The Rev. C.L. Schmidt, pastor of the Reformed Church , and Rev. Stanley A. Benson, pastor of the Mission Church will officia te.

Mrs. Rickard had been apparently in good health until a week ago when s he was taken suddenly ill. Her condition, following an operation at th e hospital was quite satisfactory until complications developed early t his week.

Mrs. Oscar Rickard was born in Sweden, July 14, 1866. She came to th is country at the age of seven years, settling in Ridgway, where she ha d made her home continuously since that time. She was a member of the S wedish Mission Church and was known to many residents of this community . Surviving are her husband and the following children: Mrs. Melda Co lson, Mrs. Clyde Wilson, Mrs. Fred Luchs, Mrs. H.P. Anderson, Ridgway, R oy Rickard, Sabula, Pa.; Walter Rickard, Sligo, Pa.; Charles Rickard, S alem, Va. and Mrs. Andrew Luchs, Jamestown, N.Y. One brother and three s isters: C.J. Johnson, Johnsonburg; Mrs. C.A. Stark and Mrs. Magnus Nels on, Ridgway; Mrs. C.A. Oscar and Augusta setup housing across the road from Augusta's sister, M rs. Minnie Stark, on Montmorenci Road, approximately 2 1/2 miles out of t own of Ridgway, Pennsylvania. This original homestead consisted of app roximately 100 acres, which they later developed into a diary farm and o perated a retail milk route into the town of Ridgway.

The outstanding contribution that Grandmother Rickard made to this farm , was the large beautiful flower garden that was laid out in the large l awn beside the house. She studiously and laboriously kep this flow gar den planted, weeded, and blooming from the first days of Spring until t he first snows of the Winter season. Her dining and living rooms were a lways full of potted plants. Many of her descendants inherited her lov e of flowers and her "Green Thumb" techniques of making anything grow w ith loving care and attention.

Mrs. Fred Luchs passed away at her home last evening at 6:30 o'clock a fter a lingering illness of eleven years. She observed her 39th birthd ay on April 11, 1937.

Funeral services will be held Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock from th e residence at 513 West Main Street and at the Reformed Church at 2:30. T he Rev. C.L. Mrs. Clyde T. Wilson, the former Ruth E. Rickard, of Montmorenci Road, R idgway, died at 7:55 this morning in the Elk County General Hospital fo llowing a lengthy illness.

She was born Jan. 24, 1893 in Ridgway, a daughter of the late Oscar and A ugusta Johnson Rickard. A life long resident of Ridgway, she was a mem ber of the Montmorenci Grange.

Carl A. Wilson, Sr., 79, of 615 Park Ave., Kane, died Monday, Oct. 18, 2 004, at the Kane Community Hospital.

Born Sept. 4, 1925, in Ridgway, he was the son of Clyde T. and Ruth E. R ickard Wilson.

On October 8, 1949, in Ridgway, he married Rosemond M. Schilk, who surv ives.

Mr. Wilson was a milkman for 35 years for Modern Dairy. Later, he was t he manager of Mt. Tabor Cemetery in Kane for five years.

He was a member of Tabor Evangelical Lutheran Church in Kane.

Surviving, in addition to his wife, are six daughters, Carol (Jim) Nels on, Sharon (Michael) Rook, Karen Lundgren, Virginia Wilson, Julie Wilso n and Bev Wilson, all of Kane; three sons, Carl (Betty) Wilson, Jr., Ma rk (Kathy) Wilson and Douglas Wilson, all of Kane; a brother, Sherwood W ilson of Ridgway; 18 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and sever al nieces and nephews also survive.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Ali ce Wilson; a grandson, Shawn Wilson; and seven sisters.
