In the north-east RedRengineers ran the re-integrationprogramme for over 450,000refugees who had returned tothe four provinces aroundJalalabad.

provide shelter for roving militiaawaiting an easy target.

In remote areas ofAfghanistan an emergencytrip to a health centre could
take over seven hours.
RedR engineers built bridgesand improved roads to allow
villagers quicker access tohealth services for the first
time in their lives.

RedR deployed 8 people into Iraq.Three logisticians worked with WFPto help deliver food to 23 millionpeople.
In the month of June 2003, 750,000tonnes of food was delivered – the
largest food delivery in history

The restriction of movementaround the OccupiedPalestinian Territoriescompelled UNICEF toestablish 5 zonal offices inthe West Bank and Gaza.
Four RedR members workedas Advisors to theirPalestinian counterpartsmaintaining UNICEF’sprogram for children andfamilies in Jenin and Hebron.

More than 1.8 millionpeople are displaced inSudan due to internalconflict. 200,000 fledacross the border toChad. The conditions areharsh and the people havesuffered terrible abuse.

With limited resources and muchneeded assistance from the ADF,
RedR logisticians helped WFP
receive and distribute 250 mt of
food every day for the first 25 days.
350,000 people were fed.

a shelter programme to assist 35,000
families rebuild their homes. This is
an enormous challenge with the hope
that 1,000 homes will be built within thenext 12 months. A programme of
resconstruction will also be delivered
in the earthquake devastated areas of
Nias.
RedR Australia provided30 personnel to assist inthe tsunami response.
In Indonesia: Jakarta,Banda Aceh, Medan,Meulaboh and Calang. InSomalia and Sri Lanka.
We worked with UNagencies, AusAID,International Red Cross,MSF, Caritas, CareAustralia and WorldVision.

Two RedR logisticiansdeployed immediately toNias to establish the supplychain for WFP food delivery.
