“Human Values in Technical Education”
CHARUTARVIDYAMANDALVallabhVidyanagar,Gujarat,India
PresidentPrincipal Dr. Indrajit N. Patel
BVM is a Premier Autonomous Institution of CharutarVidyamandal (CVM) founded in 1948. Motto of BVM: Workis worship. BVM is the first degree engineering college ofthe Gujarat state. More than 18000 engineers have graduatedfrom this college. BVM offers B.E., M.E./M. Tech andPh. D degree Programmes. The College is situated at VallabhVidyanagar, which is about 4 km from Anand Town. Themost striking features of BVM is the dedicated andexperienced faculty base.
About BVM As per AICTE Mandate all faculty members shall be trained for human values. Inculcating human values in the students is equally important as giving the technicalknowledge and skills. It is one of the concepts to beintroduced to the students during the induction training program. Training of faculty members in the area of corehuman values, professional ethics, relationship, caring, and awareness for environmental and ethical issues is theneed of the day. Faculty training is first step towards the student training. Students look at their teachers as a rolemodeland take lessons by watching their life and day today behaviour. Character building is one of the goal of education. There is a famous statement by Shri Sardar Patel, the founder of Vallabh Vidyanagar that “Education without character is of no use”. This course is a small effort in this direction.
