NATIONAL CONFERENCE On
“Managing Soil Health for Sustainable and Nutritional Food Production”
Agriculture sector in recent past witnessing a serious problem of declining or stagnation in crop productivity in spite of using improved technologies which possibly be continued for the coming years. Diminished soil health is resulting from unfair and intensive agricultural practices which have put a tremendous pressure on the soil causing deterioration in soil environment and nutrients deficiencies which need to be corrected for sustaining agricultural production and improving the quality of produce. Therefore, the outcome of the National Conference on “Managing Soil Health for Sustainable and Nutritional Food Production” will suggest various strategies for managing soil health to achieve quantum jump in production of quality food grains essential for food and nutritional security.
The basic principle in consideration of “soil health in relation to nutritional food production” is that soil is a living, dynamic and ever-so-subtly changing whole environment. Therefore, while managing soil health the strategies should be focused on composite well-being in terms of biological, chemical and physical properties of soil, each cooperatively functioning so that the soil reaches its full potential and resists degradation, thus providing a full range of functions and maintaining its capacity to turn out with quality produce in sustainable manner.
Key objectives of this conference is to deliberate on issues relating to nutrient use efficiency, fertigation, imbalance use of chemicals, recycling of crop residues, soil fertility, carbon sequestration, use of biofertilizers, safe use of industrial effluents, organic farming, genetic fortification of nutrients, conservation agriculture, sensor based land use planning, agricultural diversification, extension services such as educating the farmers about soil health to nutritional food production issues.
The technical programme of the conference will consists of lead papers, contributory papers, poster presentation, plenary lectures and discussion with NGOs and other stakeholders.
Madhya Pradesh, in central India, has varied climatic conditions, vegetation, biodiversity and socio-economic-cultural strata. Thus, it provides appropriate location for the National Conference.
We cordially invite you and your colleagues as scientists, policy makers, NGOs, farmers and entrepreneurs from various national R&D and private organizations for active participation in this National
th thConference to be held on 28 and 29 October, 2017 at JNKVV, Campus Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh in the most congenial and pleasant environment. Looking forward to meet you and your colleagues to deliberate on soil health related agricultural problems confronting mankind of this country.

About Jabalpur: Jabalpur, an ancient city of Madhya Pradesh on the shores of the holy river Narmada having sub-tropical climate and blessed with various tourist places including Marble Rocks, Chousat Yogini Temple, Bargi Dam and Dumna Nature Reserve are some important places to visit. It is surrounded by some other very important tourist places on world map including Khajuraho Temple and Kanha National park. Jabalpur is well connected with rest parts of the country by air, trains and roads.
Travel to JNKVV: The College of Agriculture, J.N. Krishi Vishwa Vidyalaya, Adhartal, Jabalpur is about 8 km either from railway station or main bus stand. Autorikshaw, city metro buses (No.101 and 102) or taxies are available to reach the university campus.
