The female pelvis is a complex area comprising the female

reproductive system, the sigmoid colon and rectum, the bladder,

arteries, veins and nerves, muscles and bones. This complex

interaction between all these structures has the designation of the

pelvis as the second most complex structure in the human body

besides the brain. A complete understanding of the anatomy of the

pelvis is important for gynaecologists operating in this area.

This workshop is aimed at re-educating ourselves on this complex

area. It will encompass the anatomical study of the pelvis and its

various structures as well as the clinical value of identifying all these

structures so that when we operate, we only remove the disease and

do not disrupt function, a feat that is sometimes difficult to impossible.

This workshop is divided into 2 parts. On the first day (16th December)

there will be lectures by anatomists and clinicians describing the

anatomy of the various parts of the pelvis and its implications during

surgery. On the second day (17thDecember) there will be a live 3D

laparoscopic dissection demonstration on a cadaver and this will be

transmitted live on a 3D monitor.

This workshop is co-organised by the Obstetrical and Gynaecological

Society of Malaysia (OGSM) and MAHSA University and will be held at

the new MAHSA University building at Bandar Saujana Putra.

Thank you.
