activity tips and suggestions
pronunciation tips and suggestions some students struggle with these sounds:
o reduction with model perfect forms: /��d / or / ��d v/ (should have)
o intonation patterns in rhetorical questions. (Why didn�t I�?)
grammar tips and suggestions consider expanding the grammar to include:
o gerund vs. infinitive as direct object: I regret going to the party. o modal perfects: I shouldn�t have gone to the party.
using discussion questions: cut in strips
o place around the room - �question stations�
o place around the room with students� names on them. Students must find their strip & dictate question to their partners & discuss -�running dictation�
o have students circulate, ask, & exchange until everyone has asked & answered all questions
o
using blank and model templates: o create overheads/digital scans o have pairs race to add expressions to
blank template o cover & slowly reveal expressions via
overhead while students race to remember
o place large paper with titles around room & have students place paper or cards with expressions on them under appropriate title (can also be done on board & students write expressions underneath)
