1. We popped a bag of each brand to test the time it takes to fully pop a bag of popcorn.
2. Popped a bag of Shurfine popcorn for three minutes.
3. Poured popcorn out into a container and counted popped and unpopped kernels.
4. We totaled kernels and divided popped number by total kernels to get a percent.
5. Recorded information on table.6. Repeat steps two through five two
more times with Shurfine.7. Calculated the average percent two

Our results show the range of total kernels for each bag of Riddenbacher and Shurfine is between 410 and 480 except for one bag. The recordings for Shurfine’s popped percentages are 85%, 87%, and 77%. The percentages for Riddenbacher are 91%, 87%, and 89%. Our data shows that the average popped percent for Riddenbacher is 91%. The average popped percent for Shurfine is 82%.
Our conclusion is that our hypothesis was not supported because, Riddenbacher average popped percentage was 11% more than Shurfine. The saying “ sometimes you’re paying for the brand name” is correct because, the brand name Riddenbacher popped a higher percent, and you get what you pay for. The size of Riddenbacher popped corn was bigger as well. If we could change our project we might try a middle priced brand or flavored types.
