Review

• In the past few lessons, we looked at– The need for and duty of evangelism– The forces that hinder evangelistic

efforts– The two main methods for evangelism

•The message of the gospel•The manifestation of the gospel

• In this lesson we’ll begin to examine practical things we can do to evangelize– Concentrating on manifesting the gospel

in our lives as our primary method

What is an Evangelism Prospect List?

• A list of names of people we know …– Who we would like to see saved

•A very long list

– Who we think we have or can develop a close relationship with•A somewhat shorter list

– Who we are going to give our attention to for a period of time•The long list gets narrowed to a manageable list which can be revised at set intervals

Why have a Prospect List?

• We need to keep prospects constantly in our minds and in our prayers – (Rom 10:1)– Success in any endeavor requires

•Setting goals (direction)•Keeping the goals in mind (motivation)

• The Prospect List and the Flow Chart are only tools to help define the goals and keep them before us– Make the list– Keep it where it will be seen often

Suggestions for the Prospect List

• Start with prayer for wisdom – James 1:5

• List the names of Non-Christians you know who may make good prospects– Visitors– New residents– Relatives of members– Unfaithful members– Neighbors– Friends and co-workers

• List the names of Non-Christians you know who may not be good prospects

Suggestions for the Prospect List

• Spend a week, or longer, just adding names to the 2 lists– If your good prospect list is short

we’ll discuss ways of adding to it next week

• Examine your “not good prospects list”– Why did you put them there?

•Their lifestyle•Personality conflicts•Their religion

Suggestions for the Prospect List

• Sifting both lists for prospects and prioritize– Any who have shown ANY spiritual

interest– Any you have open communication with– Any who you already pray for regularly– Any who regularly come across your

path– Any who you may only have a limited

amount of time to reach– Any whose respect and friendship

you’ve already gained

Suggestions for the Prospect List

• Narrow down the list to a manageable size– I suggest 10 (individuals or families)– Mix names from both lists who are

priorities•Try to get half from each list

• Put the names on your Flow Chart– Keep the Flow Chart where you’ll often

see it• Put the names in other places where

you’ll see them regularly– List on bookmark– List in checkbook– List on car visor

Suggestions for the Prospect List

• Pray daily for these people by name– Ask for opportunity to serve them

•1 Cor 3:5-7– You don’t have to be the one who

harvests

•Col 4:3

– Ask for wisdom to make use of opportunities•Col 4:4-6

– Ask for boldness•Eph 6:18-20

– For self and for the other members

Conclusion

• The reason many do not reach their goals in life is they fail to set any goals

• If soul-winning is a goal in your life . . .– Then a Prospect List is a way to set a

clear goal and keep it before you•The lists should be reviewed and revised at least once or twice each year

• Next week we’ll look at the Flow Chart and discuss developing relationships that spread the good news (evangelize)
