In Windows2000/NT server, the following software needed to be installed:1. DB2 7.2 for Windows2. DB2 FixPak FP7_WR21306.zip for Windows3. WebSphere Application Server 4.04. IBM HTTP Server 1.3.1

§ Install DB2 7.2Download DB2 FixPak FP7_WR21306.zip from http://www-3.ibm.com/cgi-bin/db2www/data/db2/udb/winos2unix/support/download.d2w/report

Enabling JDBC 2.0JDBC 2.0 is required for DB2 UDB. When installing WebSphere Application Server AdvancedEdition, you will receive a message to use JDBC 2.0 and to refer to the documentation. If yoursystem is not set up for JDBC 2.0, the administrative server will not start and you will receive adata source error.To enable JDBC 2.0 use on Windows systems:Stop the DB2 JDBC Applet Server service.Run the batch file SQLLIB\java12\usejdbc2.bat.To see what JDBC level is in use on your system:If JDBC 2.0 is in use, the file SQLLIB\java12\inuse will exist.If JDBC 1.0 is in use, the file SQLLIB\java11\inuse will exist or there will be no java11 directory.

§ Install IBM WebSphere Application Server Advanced Edition v4.0. Choose ‘Custom Installation’ in the Installation Options screen.. Uncheck ‘IBM Universal Database’ from the list of components in the Choose ApplicationServer Components screen.. Make sure that ‘IBM HTTP Server’ is checked on the Choose Webserver Plugins screen.. Choose a username (already existing in Windows 2000/NT with Administrative authority) andtype the corresponding password.. Install directory –No need to change directory path other than the drive letter (if required).

Creating a DB2 database entry in DB2 7.2 which points to IBM Mainframe DB2using DB2 Client Configuration Assistant

Open DB2 Client Configuration Assistant( Program Files > IBM DB2 > Client Configuration Assistant )

The following window will open. You need to create a new database alias pointing to OS/390Mainframe DB2 system.( This is screen shot from development server . You will not see the entry ‘UCCMVSBD’ when youinstall fresh. )

Click “Add” button on the top right corner to add a new database alias.A new window will appear as shown next.

Select “Manually Configure a connection to a database” and click “Next”.

You will be taken to the next to choose the communication protocol.

Choose “TCP/IP” and click “Next”. You will be taken to the next screen.

Specify TCP/IP Communication Parameters. Type in the Mainframe OS/390 host name or IP addressin the ‘Host name’ field. Default port is 446, but check with OS/390 DB2 support team to verify theport number on Mainframe where DB2 is accepting TCP/IP requests.No need to type anything on Service name. Click “next”

Specify the name of the database (DB2 location name) to which you want to connect. Keep the aliasname and database name same. Click “Finish”.

Note this database name, it will be required later to configure WebSphere’s data source set up.

Click “Finish”. You will see one confirmation window like below

You can test the connection by clicking “Test Connection” and then entering a valid userid andpassword which has access to OS/390 DB2.

Create JDBC driver in WebSphere Administrative Console

Open WebSphere Advanced Administrative Console.( Program Files > IBM WebSphere > Application Server V4.0 AE > Administrator’s Console )

Expand “Resources” and right click on “JDBC Providers”, select “New”.

Enter some description in the Name field, for example, “DB2Driver”.Click on the button with three dots next to the field ‘Implementation Class’.A list of database driver implementation class list will appear in a window.

Choose “COM.ibm.db2.jdbc.DB2ConnecitonPoolDataSource” and click “OK”.

Click on the “Nodes” tab on the same window from the top bar. Click on “Install New”.

Select the existing node ( which is the name of your machine) and then click “Specify Driver”.

Click “Add Driver”

Go to the directory SQLLIB/java12/db2/java.zipChoose the driver zip file “db2java.zip” .

Highlight the driver file and click “Set”

Confirm through the screens and the new driver ‘DB2Driver’ will be added.You should be able to see the new driver under ‘JDBC Providers’ node.

Create a Data Source

One entry of ‘DB2Driver’ will be created in ‘JDBC Providers’ node.Expand ‘DB2Driver’ and right click on ‘Data Sources’ and choose ‘New’

A Data Source Properties window will appear.

Enter Name as ‘DB2D’ and JNDI name as ‘jdbc/DB2D’ (mind the upper/lower case)Enter databaseName as ‘UCCMVSPD’ (as defined under DB2 Client Configuration Assistant).Enter the userid value. Enter the password value. (non-expiring password is better)

Click on the “Connection Pooling” tab and you will see the following screen.

Choose the parameters as suitable to your installation. Try not to use big number in the maximum poolsize. This can be modified later.

Install WebMerit Application Server

Download the Enterprise Archive file “merit.ear” and store it in a directory of the server ( e.g.d:\download\merit.war ) .Two Steps involved :

i. create webmerit Application Serverii. create webmerit Enterprise Application under Application Server

Open WebSphere Advanced Administrative Console.( Program Files > IBM WebSphere > Application Server V4.0 AE > Administrator’s Console )

( Note: in the following screen shots you may see some entries, which will not be there when you are tryingto do a fresh install. )

You will see a screen as shown below.

Click to expand Nodes then the default node ( the machine id) and Application Servers as shown below( only Default Server will show up initially):

Right click on Application Servers to create new Application Server

Create Application Server window will pop up as shown below. The tab “General” will be displayed first.Enter “WebMerit” (mind upper/lower case) as application server name which is the only mandatory fieldon this screen.. No need to modify any other field on this screen.

Click on the “File” tab and enter the two file names for WebSphere standard output messages and standarderror messages. These can be useful to diagnose system problems. These files can be located in anydirectory.

No need to modify any other information on any other tags. Click on “OK” and one confirmation windowwill pop up after the Application Server is successfully created.

You will see a new entry “WebMerit” under ‘Application Servers’

Now right click on the enterprise Application and then select “Install Enterprise Application”.(Here you will probably see only one entry like ‘irc-nts05_samples’ and nothing else)

A window (as shown below) will pop up. Enter the path and directory where the merit.war file is present.You can choose the file by clocking browse and finding the file from local file system. Type applicationname as ‘webmerit’ (mind small case)

Click ‘Next’.

You will be presented with a series of screens titled as :- Mapping Users to Roles ( no entry required , click ‘Next>’)- Mapping EJB RunAs Roles to Users (no entry required, click ‘Next>’)- Binding Enterprise Beans to JNDI names (no entry required, click ‘Next>’)- Mapping EJB references to Enterprise Beans (no entry required, click ‘Next>’)- Mapping Resource References to Resources (here, you should see under Resource Reference

‘jdbc/DB2D’, under Module ‘webmerit’ and under JNDI name ‘jdbc/DB2D’. No action required.Click ‘Next>’).

- Specify the Default Datasource for EJB modules (no entry required, click ‘Next>’)- Specifying Data Sources for Individual CMP Beans (no entry required, click ‘Next>’)- Selecting Virutal Hosts for Web Modules (here you should see under Web Module ‘webmerit’ and

under Virtual Host ‘default_host’. No change required, unless you have multiple virtual hosts setup. Click ‘Next>’

- Selecting Application Servers (here, under the Module column you should see ‘webmerit’ andnothing under Application Server . Click on ‘Select Server’ and choose ‘WebMerit’ from the list.After the application is chosen, it will appear under Application Server column. Click ‘Next>’ toproceed to he final step.

- The last screen ‘Completing the Application Installation Wizard’ will appear and should look likethe following depending on the directory where WebSphere4.0 is installed.

Click ‘Finish’ and it will take a little while to create the new Application . A confirmation windowwill appear. You should be able to see the application name (‘webmerit’) under ‘EnterpriseApplications’ on the left side tree.

Important : look at the directory structure shown on the screenviz., “d:\WebSphere\AppServer\installedApps\webmerit.ear”Note this directory, because all elements of this application will be physically located under thisdirectory. Directory structure is discussed later.

To stop and start ‘webmerit’ application, expand ‘Enterprise Applications’, right click on ‘webmerit’ andyou will get a menu as shown here :

Use ‘Show Status’ to check if the application is running or stopped.If stopped, first go to Nodes>DefaultMachine>ApplicaitonServers>WebMerit , right click on WebMeritand see if it has stopped. Enterprise Applications.

Directory Structure:The following diagram will give some idea about how the directory will be organized :

- ‘webmerit.ear’ directory will be created as a result of the installation of webmerit application.- all subdirectories under ‘webmerit.ear’ is controlled by the EAR file and should not be changedHere is some idea about the location of elements :

Important : Before running the application, some set up required :

1. Login properties file : login.properties ( see the location of this file in the table above . Create thisfile with the following entries and store in right directory)-------------------------------------------------datasource.username=UUUUUUdatasource.password=datasource.authid=datasource.logfilename=D:\\webmerit\\log.txtdatasource.logFlag=Y-------------------------------------------------Description of fields: - username/password : please do not provide any values here. There is a change in release 1485for these two parameters. They are no more kept in this file for security purposes.- authid : this id is the qualifier for DB2 objects. i.e., authid.table_name or authid.view_name- logfile : application log file. Customizable. Decide a directory where you want to keep this file.Important: please create an empty logfile with the logfilename provided in the specified directoryNote the double back slashes in the path.Note the path is a full directory path ( starting from the drive letter)- logFlag : if this flag is Y, log records will be written .
