OverviewCisco DNA Center provides an extensible platform that Cisco customers and partners can use to createvalue-added applications that can be built on top of its native capabilities. You can leverage the followingCisco DNA Center platform features to enhance the overall network experience by optimizing end-to-end ITprocesses, reducing Total Cost of Ownership (TCO), and developing new value networks:

• Intent APIs: The Intent APIs are Northbound REST APIs that expose specific capabilities of Cisco DNACenter platform. The Intent APIs provide policy-based abstraction of business intent, allowing you tofocus on an outcome to achieve instead of struggling with the mechanisms that implement that outcome. The APIs conform to the REST API architectural style that are simple, extensible, secure to use andsupport the standard REST methods which includes the GET, POST, PUT and DELETE operationsthough HTTPS. For additional information, see Getting Started with the Cisco DNA Center PlatformIntent API.

• Integration Flows: Integration capabilities are part of Westbound Interfaces. To meet the need to scaleand accelerate operations in modern data centers, IT operators require intelligent, end-to-end workflowsbuilt with open APIs. Cisco DNA Center platform provides mechanisms for integrating Cisco DNAAssurance workflows and data with third-party IT ServiceManagement (ITSM) solutions. For additionalinformation, see Integration APIs.

• Multivendor Support: CiscoDNACenter allows customers tomanage their non-Cisco devices.Multivendorsupport comes to Cisco DNACenter through the use of an SDK that can be used to create device packagesfor third-party devices. A device package enables Cisco DNA Center to communicate to third-partydevices bymapping Cisco DNACenter features to their southbound protocols. For additional information, see Getting Started with Cisco DNA Center Multivendor SDK.

• Events and Notifications Services: Supported services are available for Cisco DNAAssurance and CiscoDNA Center Automation (SWIM) events to be captured and forwarded onto third-party applications viaa webhook URL. For additional information, see Getting Started with Webhooks on the Cisco DNACenter Platform.

• Ability for users to select from the published list of Assurance issues for which they want to be notified.

• Ability for the users to choose the notification mechanism using the GUI, such as email and REST APIendpoint.

• Based on the selection, if an issue occurs that matches the selection criteria an external notification isautomatically sent out.

The following data is sent to the user for an Assurance event notification:

• Type (Network Device, Client, Application, or Sensor)

• Issue Identifier for API callback (the event receiver can query back to get additional details about theissues of their interest)

• Unique Identifier (name or MAC address as appropriate) for the device or client or application or sensorthat is involved in the issue (event receiver can make an API call to get additional details about thatentity)

• Issue summary: This will be Event Name

• Issue description: This will be Event Summary

• Issue URL: Cisco DNA Center issue detail URL page (event context link)

• Issue Category: Assurance issue category will be used as part of email body

ITSM Integration Updates for Cisco DNA Center

The following are the updates and changes for IT Service Management (ITSM) integration for this CiscoDNA Center release:

• TheNetwork Events for REST API Endpoint bundle has been deprecated. If you have configured thisbundle for an earlier Cisco DNA Center platform release and are using it for scheduled events, be awarethat it will not work with this release and that you need to reconfigure the individual RESTAPI endpointsfor specific network events.

Additionally, the Scheduler for this bundle will not show up in IntegrationFlows under the Developer Toolkit.

Note

You reconfigure REST API endpoints for events using the new GUI. Click Platform > DeveloperToolkit > Events. Review the listed events in this window and click a specific event (name) that youwish to configure. After clicking on an event name in this window, review the event details and thenclick Subscribe to create a REST API endpoint. For additional information about configuring RESTAPI endpoints for an event, see the Cisco DNA Center Platform User Guide.

Event notifications now occur when the event actually occurs and not accordingto any scheduled time that you configure.

Important

• Event settings lose the preferences previously selected after you upgrade to this release. You will alsoneed to reconfigure the preferences again. Click Platform >Manage >Configurations >Event Settingsto access a GUI window and reconfigure the preferences.

• TheDevice Image Outdated event setting preference (which is for a SWIM event), if selected previouslywill be lost when upgrading to this release. You will need to reconfigure this SWIM event again. Click

You need to click the update for this bundle to get the latestconfiguration settings and for this to work. See Update the Bundles, on page 15 for information aboutupdating the bundles.

• If the Network Issue Monitor and Enrichment for ITSM (ServiceNow) bundle was running on CiscoDNACenter Platform release version 1.3, then perform the following steps for it to work after an upgrade:

1. From the Cisco DNA Center home page, click Platform > Manage > Bundles.

2. Locate the Network Issue Monitor and Enrichment for ITSM (ServiceNow) bundle and clickthe Update button.

3. Next, click the Configure button.

4. Click the Activate button to save your configuration and for this bundle to work after the upgrade.

• Several network event APIs have moved from the Network Issue Monitor and Enrichment for ITSM(ServiceNow) bundle to theCisco DNA Center REST API bundle. If you are using these network eventAPIs from a previous release, they will not work for this release and you need to recreate them for yourpurposes using the data and samples located within the Cisco DNA Center REST API bundle.

Additionally, the Scheduler for this bundle will not show up in IntegrationFlows under the Developer Toolkit.

Note

The following APIs moved to the Cisco DNA Center REST API bundle:

• Get Issue Enrichment Details

• Get User Enrichment Details

• Get Device Enrichment Details

• Get Client Enrichment Details

Click Platform > Manage > Bundles > Cisco DNA Center REST API. In the Cisco DNA CenterREST API window that opens, click the Contents tab > APIs, and then scroll down the list of APIsuntil you locate one of the preceding APIs. Proceed to use the data and samples to recreate the API.

You can also access the APIs by clicking Platform >Developer Toolkit >APIs >Know Your Networkand the appropriate subdomain (Devices, Clients, Users, or Issues).

For additional information about these bundles, see the Cisco DNA Center Platform User Guide.

• The number of Assurance events that are available for notification in the Cisco DNA Center platform isreduced for this release. You can view the available Assurance events by either clicking Platform >Manage > Configurations > Event Settings or Platform > Developer Toolkit > Events.

• TheRuntime Dashboardwill show previous priorities (P1…P5) until 6 hours after the upgrade (minimumtime filter).

Limitations and RestrictionsThe following sections describe the limitations and restrictions for this release.

IP Address Manager Integration

The following are the limitations and workarounds for IP Address Manager integration with Cisco DNACenter:

• Infoblox:

• Infoblox does not expose a name attribute; therefore, the comment field in Infoblox is populatedby the IP pool name during a sync.

• For a pool import, the first 50 characters of the comment field are used. If there are spaces in thecomments, they are replaced by underscores.

• If an IP pool name is updated for an imported pool, the comments are overwritten and the new nameis reflected.

• BlueCat: There are no limitations identified with BlueCat integration at this time.
