    Business Interests of Reliance

    I. EXPLORATION AND PRODUCTION

    RIL is committed towards playing a significant role in creating energy security for the Nationin its endeavor towards becoming a global integrated energy company. Production from theDhirubhai 1 and 3 discoveries of the KG-D6 block will result in a quantum leap towardsachieving India's energy security as it will account for 40% of the Country's currenthydrocarbon production.

    NATURAL GAS EXPLORATIONRIL's domestic E&P portfolio comprises 30% interest in Panna-Mukta and Tapti(PMT) fields; 31 exploration blocks awarded under the NELP and Pre-NELPlicensing rounds and 5 coal-bed methane (CBM) blocks. The total domestic acreageis 325,000 sq KMs. The portfolio comprises both on-shore and off-shore as well asshallow and deepwater blocks.

    CRUDE OIL PRODUCTION RIL commenced production of hydrocarbons in its KGD6 block in the KrishnaGodavari basin with the production of sweet crude of 42 API. The production of oilin KG-D6 was commissioned in just over two years of its discovery, making it the

    world's fastest green-field deepwater oil development project. The Gas production isnow 60 MMSCMD.

    II. REFINING AND MARKETING

    Petroleum Refining and retailing is the second link in RIL's drive for growth and globalleadership in the core energy and materials value chain. RIL has 1.24 million barrels per day(MBPD) of crude processing capacity, the largest at any single location in the world.

    RIL owns 25% of the world's most complex refining capacity. RIL has also become the world's largest producer of ultra-clean fuels at a single location.

    RIL has been able to outperform the benchmark Singapore complex refining margin sincethe inception of its refining business.

    RIL has been able to consistently outperform the Asian benchmark due to the complexity, which allows it to process heavy and sour crudes.

    RIL processed 60.9 million tonnes of crude and clocked an average utilisation of 98.3%, which is significantly higher than the average utilisation rates for refineries globally.

    The New SEZ Refinery at JamnagarRIL's new refinery in the Special Economic Zone at Jamnagar, is the world's sixthlargest and has a Nelson Complexity Index of 14.0, making it the largest and mostcomplex refinery globally. The refinery has a capacity of processing 580,000 barrels

    of crude oil per stream day (BPSD).

    III. PETROCHEMICALS

    Reliance deals in following petrochemical products:

    Polymer : Reliance today is one of the world's largest producers of polymers. In 2009-10polymer production (Polypropylene, Polyethylene and Polyvinyl Chloride) was 4,100 KT.

    This growth has been achieved with state-of-the-art world scale projects and settingglobal benchmarks in product quality, standards and services.

    Polyester: Reliance is the largest producer of polyester fibre and yarn in the world, witha capacity of 2.5 million tonnes per annum. Production volume for 2009-10 was 1.7million tones. Reliance invests significant amounts on R&D. Reliance TechnologyCenter, Reliance Testing Centre and Reliance Fibre Application Centre constantlydevelops and introduces innovative products for the textile industry. Reliance enjoys aportfolio of about 120 global patents in the polyester domain.

    Polyester Intermediates: Reliance is the world's 4th largest producer of Paraxylene(PX), 6th largest producer of Purified Terephthalic Acid (PTA) and 7th largest producerof Mono Ethylene Glycol (MEG). In India, the company is the largest manufacturer ofpolyester intermediates with a market share of 100 per cent in some categories.

    Paraxylene (PX): Reliance Industries limited (RIL) is the 4th largest producer ofParaxylene (PX) in the world. With Aromatic plants located at two differentlocations, Reliance has an annual capacity of approximately 2 million tons perannum. RIL exports large quantities of Paraxylene to the leading petrochemicalcompanies located all across the globe. Reliances market share is 7-8%internationally, with product well established in Asia, Europe and America.

    Purified Terephthalic Acid (PTA): With 1978 KTA PTA capacity, RIL is one ofthe largest producer of PTA in the world.PTA was first introduced in 1965 as an alternative feedstock to Dimethyl

    Terephthalate (DMT) for the production of Polyester. By end of 1999, almost 85%of total world production was based on PTA and this continues to grow.

    RIL's both manufacturing sites are located close in western India, where the bulk ofthe polyester market is concentrated. Both sites also have easy access to ports, whichis an advantage for exports.

    Mono - Ethylene Glycol (MEG): RIL is the largest producer of MEG India withabout 726 KTA of installed capacity at Hazira and Dahej. RIL's manufacturing site islocated in western India, where the bulk of the polyester market is concentrated. TheHazira site has easy access to ports on the western region which is a distinct

    advantage for exports.

    IV. TEXTILES

    Reliances Manufacturing Division at Naroda, Ahmedabad is one of the largest and mostmodern textile complexes in the world. The Companys flagship brand VIMAL is one of themost trusted brands of premium textiles in the country.

    RIL is distinctly known for shepherding a new era in fabrics. With the commissioning ofnew investments in design, modern weaving, state-of-the-art finishing equipments, RILcontinues to operate one of the most modern textile complexes in Asia.

    The division continued adding clients in auto textiles and is now a significant supplier tomajor automobile manufacturers in India. The division continued its forays in the defence /police / paramilitary services by supplying specialized fabrics for their applications.

    V. RETAIL

    Reliance Retail Limited (RRL) is an organization that caters to millions of customers,thousands of farmers and vendors. Based on its core growth strategy of backwardintegration, RRL has made rapid progress towards building an entire value chain starting

    from the farmers to the end consumers.

    RRL increased its footprint to more than 900 stores in 80 cities across 14 states in India.Keeping in sync with its multi-format store strategy, RRL added new formats to its spectrumin 2009-10.     Job Purpose

    Provide technical support in order to help the group to provide necessary process support tothe capital projects and overall refinery management.

    Roles & Responsibilities

    Principal Accountabilities

    Assist the RTG team in preparing enquiry documents, development of proposals,clarifications from licensors, Technical bid analysis, provide related technicaldocumentation support to Projects, basic / detailed engg support as required

    Assist co-ordination with other groups within RTG and outside, to ensure processintegration, interface management to indicate / evaluate impacts on other units /interdependency

    Assist in data collection, data processing, model development and tuning, buildingrepresentative models, review of existing models for fine-tuning / upgrade etc,provide support to other groups like EPS (for LP update etc)

    Assist for review of operational performance, retro audits, help locatingopportunities of improvement and develop them
