This week’s theme is:
“Being Positive”
Correction - State-wide Transition Day Tuesday, December 8th is the designated state-wide transition day for
students who are making the move from Primary School to Secondary
College in 2016. All current grade six children are expected to attend
their secondary college on this day.
School Captains 2016 The election of School Captains for 2016 has taken place. There were
fifteen current Grade Five children who expressed an interest in the role
of School Captain and their speeches were fantastic. It was also terrific
to have so many guests at the assembly who listened to the children
present their ideas to the school community.
The School Captains for 2016 are Emily Bell, Ryan Bell, Zali Cornell and
Georgia Hansford. The Sports Captains for 2016 are Cody Power and
Darcy Hicks. This is a new role at the school and has been created with
the aim of spreading the leadership responsibilities across more children.
Congratulations to all of the children who nominated for the role of
School Captain. We have a very strong group of Grade Five children who
will make wonderful role models for the younger children next year.
Thanks, Chris McCallum- Principal

2016 Swimming Program The Nathalia Primary School swimming program will operate in February next year. The program will run over ten
days with the children at the pool for an hour each day. The intensive swimming program will follow the guidelines
set out in the Vic Swim program, which is appropriate for all children of primary school age.
To achieve the optimum group ratios we will need parents to volunteer to assist with the program. There may be
some parents with skills in this area but if you haven’t, parents can be trained in how to work with a swimming
group. Parents do not need to be available for every session and swimming groups can be shared between parents.
Being able to swim is an important skill for all children and adults. The Nathalia Primary School swimming program
will develop the skills of students from water awareness through to comprehensive stroke development. I urge any
parent who would like to help out with part or all of this program to please contact the school and express your
interest.
Year Six Graduation The Nathalia Primary School Year Six Graduation is on
Tuesday, December 15th from 7.00pm in the Dancocks
Room at the Nathalia Community Centre.
Information for families will be sent home with the Grade
Six children on Thursday. There are many people, not just
family, who have a special bond with the current Grade
Six students and they are most welcome to come along to
the Graduation Night to help celebrate the achievements
of these students. There is no charge for this event and it
is open to anyone who would like to attend.
