CHAPTER 1 INTRODUCTION

The Remote Viewer is an optional addition to the Entis Pro software suite. It allows you to view data created by the Entis Pro XML-logging task. You can set up the scheduler to create a log database on a regular basis, e.g. once per minute. For more information about scheduling the “XMLlogging” task, please refer to the “Entis Pro instruction manual”.

Figure 1: Basic Configuration

The basic configuration is shown in figure 1. The remote Viewer Station is connected with a remote Entis Pro station through Microsoft Windows™ networking. Data generated by Entis Pro will be shown at the Remote Viewer Station in a tabular format. Configuration functionality allows the user to customize the application to show specific remote sites, tanks groups, and data entities as well as changing font size, and data expiration.

4.1 Description of Main Screen Controls

The figure shown gives an overall view of the functionality of the Remote Viewer Main Screen. The specific function of the various controls will be discussed in more detail in this chapter.

Figure 17: Main Screen Description

4.2 Selecting a Site with the Site Selector

The Remote Viewer is able to show data from multiple (configured) Entis Pro sites.

Figure 18: Site Selector

By means of the “Site” selector, configured sites can be selected. In this case Demo Site (as shown), is selected. Data will be retrieved from the Entis Pro installation at the “Demo Site” site.

The sites appearing in the “Site” selector, are configured during the configuration procedure of the application, discussed in the Configuration chapter 5.

Page 18: Remote Viewer Manual - Honeywell...Part No.: 4416385 - Revision 0 Remote Viewer Manual 1-1 CHAPTER 1 INTRODUCTION The Remote Viewer is an optional addition to the Entis Pro software

Starting the Remote Viewer

The “Demo Site“ site is preconfigured and used to demonstrate the capabilities of the application. It may be removed during configuration.

4.3 Selecting a tank group with Tank Group Selector

The Remote Viewer can show data up to 400 tanks and 122 Entities. To manage this amount of data, tank groups and tank views can be created.

A tank group is a named entry in the “Tank Group” selector, in which a selection of tanks is grouped. When selected, only the tanks configured in the group are shown. Grouping of tanks is not limited and can be based on: number of tanks, type of product, location on site, etc.

Figure 19: Tank Group Selector

There are two types of groups, a local group which name is preceded by a ~ symbol, and a remote group. There can be defined multiple local and remote groups.

A local group is configured locally in the “Remote Viewer” configuration procedure. It is shown at the local machine only. An example of a local group is “~DemoGrp” as shown in the picture.

A remote group is configured at the specific remote Entis Pro installation on Site. It cannot be changed by the Remote Viewer, and is shown at every “Remote Viewer” machine. Remote groups shown can differ from site to site. An example of a remote group is “ALL” which is always present at every Entis Pro site.

IMPORTANT PLEASE BEWARE:Tank groups use tank names as an identifier for a tank, i.e. if different sites use different tank names, a group created for one site, may not show (all) tanks for another. It is advised to create tank groups for specific sites and name them for Example “Delft Crude” for all Crude tanks in Delft. Refer to the Configuration paragraph: Tank groups Best Practice.

4.4 Selecting a view with the View Group Selector

A view group is a named entry in the “View Group” selector. It selects configured groups of properties or entities of the tanks shown in the data grid.

Figure 20: View Group Selector

Selecting the view will show the properties of a tank or product like for example Product Name, Product Level, Product Temperature as shown below.

Figure 21: Shown Entities Detail

Views are created in the application configuration procedure and can be created based on specific needs like Tank properties like Level, Temperature, GOV and TOV but also on procedures like Pumping transactions, Inventory, or Mass.

Refer to the Configuration procedure chapter 5 on how to create these “View Groups”.

4.5 Opening a file with the Remote File Selector

The Remote Viewer uses the data generated by the XML logger application of Entis Pro. The schedule for the Remote Viewer can be configured for once a minute to display semi real-time data. However it is possible to setup multiple data files with different schedules, for example once a day, week, month to create historical inventory data.

4.11 The Status Bar

The status bar located at the bottom of the screen indicates important information.

Figure 31: Status Bar

The Status bar has three areas:

W&M approved Status

Application Status

Logging Time Stamp

The “W&M approved Status” will be crossed out, because it is only possible for a “sealed” data path or chain to be W&M approved. Though this is not the case here, the application still will show the expected high data accuracy of the Entis Pro Tank Inventory System.

The “Application Status” notifies the user about current activities during normal operation, i.e.: Retrieving data, Current Data etc. but also reports error conditions or warnings for: Data Age, Static data or Connection errors. A full list of possible messages can be found at Appendix A.

The Logging timestamp or “Capture Time” displays the time the data was measured at the remote Entis Pro site connected. If configured sites are geographically located in different time zones, “Capture Time” will reflect the different local time and date information.

The Remote Viewer uses standard Windows file sharing networking technology. For this to operate correctly the following settings need to be configured.

File and Printer Sharing needs to be enabled (refer to Windows help, or manual)

When connecting to a share, Credentials need to be stored by windows, by either allowing to store user name and password in the Windows Security dialog, or by creating a mapped drive

To be able to “see “and connect to remote machines, all machines involved need to have “File and Printer sharing” enabled. This will ensure that browsing for a specific Entis Pro machine based on its name in the network is facilitated.

Figure 36: Windows Security

In case of a connection to a network share by means of a UNC path (\\machinename\sharename... etc.) or through a network share drive mapping, it is very important while making the connection the first time, to let windows store your credentials (tick box “Remember my Credentials” in the Windows Security Dialog). The next time the machine is started, Windows will restore the share automatically with the information stored. The Remote Viewer application can display the required data then without disruption.

The Remote Viewer itself does not store credentials like user and password information.

NOTE: The actual path of a data file can differ from installation to installation. It depends on configuration of the XML Logger application of Entis Pro. Please refer to the Entis Pro, XML Logger configuration or contact Honeywell Enraf Service and Support.

5.1.3 Removing a Site (Site Location section)

To remove a site, select the site name in the “Site Name” combo box. The trash can button will be enabled.

Click the trash can button to remove the site and confirm the changes by using the OK button or discard by using the Cancel button.

5.1.4 Setting the maximum allowed data age (Data Properties section)

In the Data Properties section, general application settings like Maximum data Age and Auto Refresh Data can be configured. The Maximum data age functionality warns if the data shown is older than the configured time. The Auto refresh function determines whether the application will continuously check for new data.

5.2 Creating Tank Groups (Tank Groups TAB)

5.2.1 Creating Tank Groups

The Tank Group TAB enables the user to create groups of tanks, to limit the number of tanks shown at a time, or create groups of tanks with similar product. These groups can be selected by group name, in the Main Screen through the “Tank Group” selector.

To create a tank group, select the site with the “Site Selector” and type a new Group Name, in the “Group Name” selector.

The “Available tanks” list will now show all available tanks, at the site selected. By clicking the tanks in the available tanks list and using the arrowed buttons, tanks will be added to the “Selected tanks” list.

A selected tank in the “Available Tanks” list will be added to the “Selected Tanks” list, by clicking the single arrow button. By using the SHIFT-click and CTRL-click action, multiple tanks can be selected. Note that double entries will be ignored.

Using the double Arrow button will add all tanks from the “Available Tanks” list in one go.

In a similar way tanks can be removed from the “Selected Tanks” list by using and the buttons.

After naming the group and selecting the tanks, the create group button, will create the group. If the “default” tick box is selected, the group will be selected default at startup.

The changes are confirmed with the OK button or discarded with the Cancel button.

NOTE: In the “Tank Groups Best Practice” Chapter 5.2.3 the importance of choosing a sensible group name is discussed.

5.2.2 Removing Tank Groups (Tank Groups TAB)

5.2.3 Tank Groups Best Practice

As mentioned earlier tank groups use tank names as an identifier, i.e. if different sites use different tank names, a view created for one site, may not show (all) tanks for another.

For Example:

An Entis Pro site in Delft uses tank identifier “TK_”xx, there are three tanks TK_01, TK_02, TK_03.

An Entis Pro site in Rotterdam uses tank identifier “TANK”xx, there are also three tanks TANK01, TANK 02, TANK 03.

Creating a tank group for Delft with the name “~MyTanks”, and adding all tanks TK_01 … TK_03 will result in showing the ~MyTanks group entry in the Main Dialog. Selecting this group for the Delft Site will show all three tanks.

Figure 41: ~MyTanks Group @ Delft

Page 33: Remote Viewer Manual - Honeywell...Part No.: 4416385 - Revision 0 Remote Viewer Manual 1-1 CHAPTER 1 INTRODUCTION The Remote Viewer is an optional addition to the Entis Pro software

Configuring the RemoteViewer (Setup)

However selecting this tank group “~MyTanks” when the Rotterdam site is selected, will show NO tanks. This is because all tanks in Rotterdam are named TK01…TK03.

Figure 42: MyTanks Group @ Rotterdam

It is essential therefore to use the “Site Selector” source in the configuration screen to select the site, when creating a tank group, obtaining the correct tank name identifier list. It is also advised to create tank group names that are specific for site and or task.

For example better naming of the group would prevent confusion:

A tank group for Delft named “My Tanks Delft” with tanks: TK_01, TK_02, TK_03 added.

A tank group for Rotterdam named “My Tanks Rotterdam” with tanks: TANK01, TANK 02, TANK 03 added.

Now the Main Screen “Tank Group” selector allows you quickly to distinguish between the two site groups.

NOTE : The remote “ALL” group governed by Entis Pro is always available to view tanks.

5.3 Creating View Groups (View Groups TAB)

5.3.1 Creating View Groups

The View Group TAB enables the user to create groups of entities, to limit the amount of data shown at a time, or create view groups of tanks with similar properties. These groups can be selected by group name, in the Main Screen through the “View Group” selector.

Configuring the RemoteViewer (Setup)

To create a view group, select the site with the “Site Selector” and type a new View Group Name in the “View Name” selector. The “Available Entities” list will now show all entities available, at the site selected. By clicking the entities in the available tanks list and using the arrowed buttons, entities will be added to the “Selected Entities” list.

A selected entity or property in the “Available Entities” list will be added to the “Selected Entities” list, by clicking the single arrow button. By using the SHIFT-click and CTRL-click action, multiple entities can be selected. Note that double entries will be ignored. Using the double Arrow

button will add all entities from the “Available Entities” list in one go. In a similar way tanks can be removed from the “Selected Entities” list by using and the buttons.

The up and down button are used to change the display order of the “Selected Entities” at the main screen. The most upper entity in the “Selected Entities” list will show the most left at the main screen.

The create view button , will create the view group, and if the “default” tick box is selected, this view group will be shown at startup.

The Cancel button discards all changes; the OK button confirms all changes.

5.4 Configuring Entis Pro for use with the Remote Data Viewer

To be able to use the Remote Viewer, remote data files are required. The remote data files are created by the Entis Pro XMLlogging task which needs to be scheduled in the Entis Pro scheduler.

Figure 44: Entis Pro Scheduler

5.5 Entis Pro settings

Before using the Remote viewer a logging file must be configured in Entis Pro:

Select the Scheduler in the Entis Pro group of applications.

Enter a scheduled Logging time (Interval time)

Enter Start At time (Set this time a few minutes before the actual time)

Click on the Settings button. The “Logging” will pop-up.

Select Custom

Enter a file name *

Press “Schedule”

*The Remote Viewer relies on the fact that the logging file name does not change, only the content. It is advised to use a static file name. For Example: “Delft-Data.xml” for the Delft site or “Rotterdam-Data.xml” for the Rotterdam site (without the quotes).

Configuring the RemoteViewer (Setup)

The default suggested dynamic placeholder like %Y, %m, %d – “filename” in the XML Logging Settings dialog, causes the logging file name to be different every time it is generated. This type of automatically naming the file is perfectly suited for creating long term weekly or monthly logs. These logs can be viewed with the Open File functionality (statically).

NOTE: This is a brief summary of the procedure, a detailed description can be found in the Entis Pro User Guide 117.4416.380 rev1.
