ReMotion Knee
ReMotion Knee is an affordable, polycentric prosthetic knee designed for amputees in developing countries. It is optimized for the environment (agricultural and outdoor exposure), and activities such as kneeling and squatting. ReMotion is polymer-based, designed for centralized commercialization and will retail at 80 USD – just 10% of the price of comparable polycentric knees on the market. It has been continuously improved in close practical co-operation with potential users e.g. in India. Research on existing prosthetic systems suggests that clinics in the developing world can reasonably afford 300 USD for a full prosthetic leg system, which corresponds to 100 USD for a knee joint. Due to the fragmented market, and in order to guarantee high quality, production will be centralized. The business will be started as a non-profit entity with the mission to become self-sustaining.
