    Safety informationFor your safety and correct operationof the appliance, read this manual

    carefully before installation and use. Alwayskeep these instructions with the applianceeven if you move or sell it.   • Installation• A qualified and competent person must

    do the electrical and the plumbing instal-lation.

    • This appliance is heavy. Take care whenyou move it.

    • Make sure that the appliance is not dam-aged because of transport. Do not con-nect a damaged appliance. If necessary,contact dedicated After Sales Service.

    • Remove all packaging and transit boltsbefore first use. Serious damage can oc-cur to the appliance or to neighbouringcabinets or furniture.

    • Keep all transit devices so that they canbe refitted if the appliance ever has to betransported again. Please refer to the rel-evant steps in the Assembly Instruction.

    • Never place cardboard, wood or similarmaterials under the appliance to com-pensate for any unevenness in the floor.Level accurately the appliance and tightthe lock nuts to prevents vibration, noiseand displacement of the appliance dur-ing operation.

    • If your appliance is installed on a carpe-ted floor, adjust the feet in order to en-sure that the air must circulate freely un-der the appliance.

    • Check that your appliance is not standingon the inlet and drain hose and the work-top or the back of the appliance is notpressing the electrical supply cableagainst the wall.

    • Always be sure, that there is no waterleakage from hoses and their connectionsafter the installation.

    • If the appliance is installed in a locationsubject to frost, please read the “dangersof freezing” chapter.

    Use• The appliance is only for domestic use.

    Do not use the appliance for commercialand industrial use or for other uses.

    • Only an authorised service engineer canrepair this appliance. Use only originalspare parts.

    • Refer to the instructions on the label ofeach item (garment) before washing.

    • Do not overload the appliance. See theWashing Programme Table.

    • Before washing, ensure that all pocketsare empty and buttons and zips are fas-tened.

    • Any objects such as coins, safety pins,nails, screws, stones or any other hard,sharp material can cause extensive dam-age and must not be placed into the ap-pliance.

    • Treat stains such as paint, ink, rust, andgrass before washing.

    • Only use the advised quantities of fabricsoftener and detergent. Damage to thefabric can ensue if you overfill. Refer tothe manufacturer’s recommendations ofquantities.

    • Wash small items such as socks, laces,washable belts etc. in a washing bag orpillow case as it is possible for such itemsto slip down between the tub and the in-ner drum.

    • Do not use your appliance to wash arti-cles with whalebones, items without hems,frayed and torn. Underwired bras mustNOT be washed.

    • Garments which have been in contactwith volatile petroleum products shouldnot be appliance washed. If volatilecleaning fluids are used, care should betaken to ensure that the fluid is removedfrom the garment before placing in theappliance.

    • The water we use normally contains lime.It is a good idea to periodically use awater softening powder in the appliance.Do this without any laundry into the drumand according to the softening powdermanufacturer’s instructions. This will helpto prevent the formation of lime depositsmaking your appliance more efficiency.

    • Never pull the power supply cable to re-move the plug from the socket; alwaystake hold of the plug itself.

  • • Never use the appliance if the powersupply cable, the control panel, the work-ing surface or the base is damaged sothat the inside of the appliance is accessi-ble.

    Water inlet• This appliance must be connected to a

    cold water supply.• Do not use connection hoses from an old

    appliance to connect it to the water sup-ply.

    • The water pressure must be in the limits(refer to the chapter «Technical data» ta-ble). Make sure that the local water au-thority gives you the average mains pres-sure in your area.

    • Make sure that there are no kinks in thewater inlet hose and that the water inlethose is not squashed or entangled.

    • Before connecting up the appliance tonew pipework or to pipework that hasnot been used for some time, run off areasonable amount of water to flush outany debris that may have collected in thepipes.

    • Turn the inlet hose on the back of the ap-pliance to the left or the right to suit theinstallation.

    • The inlet hose must not be lengthened. Ifit is too short and you do not wish tomove the tap, you will have to purchase anew, longer hose specially designed forthis type of use.

    • Before opening the water tap, be sure totighten the ring nut well to prevent anyleaks.

    Water drainage• Make sure the end of the drain hose can-

    not come unhooked when the applianceis emptying. This could be done by tyingit to the tap with a piece of string or at-taching it to the wall.

    • The drain hose must be placed at aheight of not less than 44 cm and notmore than 90 cm. Please refer to the As-sembly Instruction booklet.

    Care and cleaning• Before maintenance, switch off the appli-

    ance and disconnect the mains plug fromthe mains socket.

    • Clean the exterior cabinet of the appli-ance with soap and water only, and thendry thoroughly.

    • The washing powder and additive dis-penser drawer should be cleaned regu-larly.

    • Inspected the pump regularly and partic-ularly if:– the appliance does not empty and/or

    spin– the appliance makes an unusual noise

    during draining due to objects such assafety pins, coins etc. blocking thepump.

    • Never remove the pump cover during awash cycle. Always wait until the appli-ance has drained out the water. If youhave selected an high temperature wash-ing programme please wait until the wa-ter has cooled down.

    • Ensure that the pump cover is securely re-tightened to prevent any leaks.

    Follow the product manufacturer’s rec-ommendations on quantities to use

    Programme selector dial It allows you to switch the appliance On/Off and/or to selecta programme.

    Delay Start button This button allows you to delay the start of the programmeby 3, 6 or 9 hours.

    The light 3.1 illuminates when you press the button 4 whenyou start the programme.The appliance starts working and the door is locked.The light 3.2 illuminates when you select a permanent extrarinse option. This appliance is designed for saving water.However, for people with very delicate skin (allergic to de-tergents) it may be necessary to rinse the laundry using anextra quantity of water.To select a permanent extra rinse option:• Press simultaneously the buttons 5 and 6 for some sec-

    onds. The light 3.2 illuminates.To delete the permanent extra rinse option:• Press simultaneously the buttons 5 and 6 for some sec-

    onds. The light 3.2 goes off.The light 3.3 illuminates at the end of the washing cycle. Af-ter a few minutes the door can be opened.

    Start/Pause button This button allows you to start or to interrupt the selectedwashing programme.

    Super Quick button By pressing this button, you can select a very short cycle forslightly soiled items that have been worn for a short time.The relevant light will light up.

    Multi-Function button By pressing this button, you can select only one of the op-tions. The relevant light will light up.• Automatic spin reduction: by selecting this option the spin

    speed is half reduced, but not less than 400 rpm (refer to"Washing programmes" for each programme maximumspin speed).

    • Rinse Hold option: by selecting this option the water of thelast rinse is not emptied out to prevent the fabrics fromcreasing. Before opening the door it will be necessary toempty out the water. To empty out the water, please readthe paragraph «At the end of the programme».

  • Temperature button By pressing this button you can select the most suitable tem-perature for washing your laundry .

    First use• Ensure that the electrical and water

    connections comply with the installa-tion instructions.

    • Ensure that the drum is empty.

    • Before the first wash, run a cottoncycle at the highest temperaturewithout any laundry in the machine,to remove any manufacturing resi-due from the drum and tub. Pour1/2 a measure of detergent into themain wash compartment and startthe machine.

    If the flap is not in the desired position:

    • Remove the drawer. Push the draweredge outwards where indicated by thearrow (PUSH) to facilitate drawer re-moval.

    The flap is down and you wish to usepowder detergent:

    • Rotate the flapupwards. Ensureto fit the flapcompletely in.

    • Carefully put thedrawer back.

    • Measure out thedetergent.

    • Pour the powderdetergent intothe main washcompartment .

    The flap is up and you wish to use liquiddetergent:

    • Rotate the flapdownwards.

    • Carefully put thedrawer back.

    • Measure out the detergent.For the quantity of detergent, referalways to what is written on the

    product packing and ensure that the de-tergent can be poured in the drawer.• Pour the liquid detergent in the com-

    partment without exceeding the limitindicated in the flap. The detergentmust be placed in the appropriate com-partments of the dispenser drawer be-fore starting the wash programme.

    Warning! Do not use the flap in"DOWN" position with:

    • Gelatinous detergent or thick deter-gent.

    • Powder detergent.• With programmes with prewash.• Do not use liquid detergent if the wash-

    ing programme doesn't start immedi-ately.

    In all above listed cases, use the flapin "UP" position .

    Pour fabric softeneror any additives in-to the compartmentmarked (do notexceed the «MAX»mark in the draw-er). Any additivesmust be placed inthe appropriatecompartments ofthe dispenser draw-er just before start-ing the wash pro-gramme.

    Close the drawer gentlySelect the required programme by turningthe programme selector dial (1)The appliance is now switched on. The indi-cator light of button 4 starts to blink.At the end of the programme the selectordial must be turned to position O, to switchthe appliance off.

    For the description of each wash cycle,the compatibility among the washing

    programmes and the options, consult thechapter «Washing Programmes».

    Caution! If you turn the programmeselector dial to another programme

    when the appliance is working, the redindicator light of button 4 will blink 3 timesto indicate a wrong selection. Theappliance will not perform the new selectedprogramme.

  • Select the available options by pressingbuttons 5, 6 and 7Depending on the programme, differentfunctions can be combined. These must beselected after choosing the desired pro-gramme and before starting the pro-gramme.When these buttons are pressed, the corre-sponding indicator lights illuminate. Whenthey are pressed again, the indicator lightsgo out. If an incorrect option is selected, theintegrated red indicator light of the button 4flashes for 3 times.

    For the compatibility among the wash-ing programmes and the options see

    chapter «Washing Programmes».Select the Delay Start by pressing button2Before you start the programme, if you wishto delay the start, press the button 6 re-peatedly, to select the desired delay. Therelevant light illuminates.You must select this option after you haveset the programme and before you start theprogramme.You can cancel or modify the delay time atany moment, before you press button 4.Selecting the delayed start:1. Select the programme and the required

    options.2. Select the delay start by pressing the

    button 2.3. Press button 4:

    – the appliance starts its countdown.– The programme will start after the

    selected delay has expired.Cancelling the delayed start after havingstarted the programme:1. Set the washing appliance to PAUSE by

    pressing button 4.2. Press button 2 once, the light relevant

    to the selected delay goes off3. Press button 4 again to start the pro-

    gramme.The Delay Start can not be selected withDRAIN programme.

    Important! The selected delay can bechanged only after selecting the washingprogramme again.The door will be locked throughout the de-lay time. If you need to open the door, youmust set the appliance to PAUSE (by press-ing the button 4) and then wait a few mi-nutes. After you have closed the door, pressthe button 4 again.Start the programme by pressing button 4To start the selected programme, press thebutton 4, the corresponding green indicatorlight stops blinking. The indicator light cor-responding to the running phase illumi-nates. The appliance starts operating andthe door is locked.To interrupt a programme which is running,press the button 4: the corresponding greenindicator light starts blinking.To restart the programme from the point atwhich it was interrupted, press the button 4again. If you have chosen a delayed start,the appliance will begin the countdown.If an incorrect option is selected, the red in-dicator light of the button 4 blinks 3 times.Altering an option or a runningprogrammeIt is possible to change some options beforethe programme carries them out.Before you make any change, you mustPAUSE the appliance by pressing the button4.Changing a running programme is possibleonly by resetting it. Turn the programme se-lector dial to O and then to the new pro-gramme position. Start the new programmeby pressing the button 4 again. The wash-ing water in the tub will be not emptied out.Interrupting a programmePress the button 4 to interrupt a programmewhich is running, the corresponding greenindicator light starts blinking.Press the button again to restart the pro-gramme.Cancelling a programmeTurn the selector dial to O to cancel a pro-gramme which is running.

  • You can select now a new programme.Opening the doorAfter the programme has started the door islocked. If, for any reason, you need to openit, set firstly the appliance to PAUSE bypressing the button 4. After a few minutes itwill be possible to open the door.If the door remains locked, this means thatthe appliance is already heating or that thewater level is too high. In any case, do nottry to force the door!If you cannot open the door but you needto open it you have to switch the applianceoff by turning the selector dial to O. After afew minutes the door can be opened (payattention to the water level and tempera-ture!).After closing the door, it is necessary to se-lect the programme and options again andto press button 4.At the end of the programmeThe appliance stops automatically. The in-dicator light of button 4 and the indicatorlight corresponding to the just finishedwashing phase goes off. The light 3.3 illumi-nates. After a few minutes the door can beopened.If a programme or an option that ends withwater left in the tub has been selected, thelight 3.3 illuminates but the door remainslocked to indicate that the water must beemptied out before opening the door.

    During this time the drum continues to turnat regular intervals until water draining.Follow the below instructions to empty outthe water:1. Turn the programme selector dial to O.2. Select the draining or spinning pro-

    gramme.3. Reduce the spin speed if needed, by

    pressing the button 7.4. Press button 4.At the end of the programme, the door canbe now opened. Turn the programme selec-tor dial to O to switch the appliance off.Remove the laundry from the drum andcarefully check that the drum is empty. Ifyou do not intend to carry out anotherwash, close the water tap. Leave the dooropen to prevent any mildew and unpleas-ant smells.

    Stand by: once the programme hasfinished the energy saving system is

    enabled with the pilot lights switched on. Bypressing any button the appliance will comeout of the energy saving status.

    Helpful hints and tipsSorting out the laundryFollow the wash code symbols on each gar-ment label and the manufacturer’s washinginstructions. Sort the laundry as follows:whites, coloureds, synthetics, delicates,woollens.Removing stainsStubborn stains may not be removed by justwater and detergent. It is therefore advisa-ble to treat them prior to washing.

    Blood: treat fresh stains with cold water. Fordried stains, soak overnight in water with astain remover product then rub in the soapand water.Oil based paint: moisten with benzine stainremover, lay the garment on a soft clothand dab the stain; treat several times.Dried grease stains: moisten with turpen-tine, lay the garment on a soft surface anddab the stain with the fingertips and a cot-ton cloth.

  • Rust: oxalic acid dissolved in hot water or arust removing product used cold. Be carefulwith rust stains which are not recent sincethe cellulose structure will already havebeen damaged and the fabric tends tohole.Mould stains: treat with bleach, rinse well(white cottons and fast coloureds only).Grass: soap lightly and treat with bleach(white cottons and fast coloureds only).Ball point pen and glue: moisten with ace-tone1), lay the garment on a soft cloth anddab the stain.Lipstick: moisten with acetone as above,then treat stains with methylated spirits.Treat any residual marks with bleach.Red wine: soak in water and detergent,rinse and treat with acetic or citric acid,then rinse. Treat any residual marks withbleach.

    Ink: depending on the type of ink, moistenthe fabric first with acetone1), then with ace-tic acid; treat any residual marks on whitefabrics with bleach and then rinse thor-oughly.Tar stains: first treat with stain remover, me-thylated spirits or benzine, then rub withdetergent paste.Degrees of water hardnessWater hardness is classified in so-called“degrees” of hardness. Information onhardness of the water in your area can beobtained from the relevant water supplycompany, or from your local authority.

  • The dangers of freezingIf the appliance is installed in a place wherethe temperature could drop below 0°C,proceed as follows to remove any water re-maining inside the appliance:1. unplug the appliance;2. turn off the water tap;3. unscrew the water inlet hose from the

    support and unhook it from sink or spi-got;1 2

    5. place a bowl on the floor;6. let the drain hose run along the floor,

    place the external extremities of thedrain and inlet hoses in the bowlplaced on the floor and let water drainout completely;

    7. screw the water inlet hose back on andreposition the drain hose again;

    When you intend to start the appliance upagain, make sure that the room tempera-ture is above 0°C.

    What to do if…The appliance does not start or stops duringoperation. It is possible that the red indica-tor light of button 4 blinks to indicate thatthe appliance is not working.

The laundry is redistributedby reverse rotation of the drum.This may happen several times be-fore the unbalance disappearsand normal spinning can resume.If, after 10 minutes, the laundry isstill not evenly distributed in thedrum, the appliance will not spin.

    Redistribute the load manually orload more laundry and select thespin programme.

    There is wateron the floor:

    Too much detergent or unsuitabledetergent (creates too much foam)has been used.

    Reduce the detergent quantity oruse another one.
