TRANSCRIPT
• OBJECTIVE •
The objective is to analyze the European dimension of action at sea, the challenges of sovereignty and the protection of resources, through a multidisciplinary discussion of treaty obligations and the actions of European maritime agencies.
This seminar is part of the 4th Work Package of the Human Sea re-search program which focuses on «New activities at sea - prelimina-ry analyzes of the legal framework».
In particular, these include:
• The influences and international ambitions of European Union,
• Migration Challenges and Illicit trafficking at sea,
• The European maritime agencies role.
The 5-year ERC-program HUMAN SEA began on March 1, 2014 and intends to address issues related to the development of human acti-vities at sea, which have progressively led to a transformation of the Law of the Sea and maritime Law. These new activities remain poorly regulated. The goal of this Project, directed by Patrick CHAUMETTE, former Di-rector of the Maritime and Oceanic Law Centre (CDMO), is to restruc-ture the Law of the Sea and Maritime Law, to rethink the intervention of States in oceans, from their territorial waters to the high seas. The compromises found in 1982, with regard to the law of the sea.For further information about Human Sea Research Program we in-vite you to visit the Website.
