Did You Know…
Arts education helps students
become better readers and
writers. For example, drama
increases reading readiness in
early grades and improves
reading comprehension and
writing skills throughout middle
and high school. Arts education
develops creativity, an important
attribute and one of the top five
skills employers prize for the
21st Century.

Arts

“The Modular Robotics cubelets
were a phenomenal success.
Students were engaged from the
moment they saw them and by the
fourth lesson students were creat-

new robotic design skills.”
Kimberly Teacher, Carol Drake,
received $3,000 for her REP Grant

THE MISSION OF THE REDLANDS EDUCATIONAL PARTNERSHIP IS
TO MAKE EDUCATION A PRIORITY IN THE COMMUNITY , TO
ENHANCE OUR STUDENTS ’ LEARNING OPPORTUNITIES , AND TO BETTER PREPARE REDLANDS UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT (RUSD)
STUDENTS TO BECOME CONTRIBUTING MEMBERS OF OUR SOCIETY
REP IS
COMMUNITY
REP is our community’s way
of making sure that our
outstanding public schools
continue to have the support
they need to provide our young
people with excellent
educational opportunities.
REP IS
GIVING
The commitments of thousands
of donors have been created
over the past 29 years. These
commitments have allowed
REP to provide important
programs and significant
financial support of more than
1.5 million dollars to Redlands
USD schools.
REP IS
FUTURE
As Redlands USD moves
forward, REP must be respon-
sive to changes and to the needs
that arise in our district and
community. We continually
review the procedures and
objectives of our programs,
building on past successes to
serve today’s teachers, students
and schools.
GOALS
To expose students to
excellence in the arts.
To recognize creativity and
excellence in teaching.
To foster creative development
of enrichment programs.
A PROUD TRADITION
The Redlands Educational Partnership (REP) is a group of parents and community leaders who believe
that investing in our public schools is critically necessary for the successful development of our children.
Since founded in 1987, REP has enjoyed the support of our school parents, staff, businesses,
corporations and the community at large.
OBJECTIVES
To promote, recognize and
stimulate excellence in
education.
To enhance the education
of students through
enrichment programs.
To stimulate an atmos-
phere of creativity and
respect for teachers.
To encourage a close
community and private
sector relationship with
the RUSD schools.
We’ve Come to Expect the Very Best.
It’s Up to Us to Make the Difference.

Received $1,400 from

“The spotlight will
not only improve the
look of our plays, but
give the backstage
students more tech
experience working
with high quality
equipment. Thank
you REP for your
support!” Kathi McNair (REV) received $2,710 for her grant project, “Better Together.” The
funding was used to begin a new club that integrated special education students with
the general education population. The club was a huge success with 85 members
enjoying time playing games and other activities as well as receiving training on all
sorts of disabilities. “Most of all new friendships were formed.“

REP PROGRAMS FOR SCHOOLS
The T.A.G.S. enrichment
funding for Technology, Arts,
Gardens, and Science pro-
gram allocates funding to
each school according to the
student population. Each
school applies for the money
through a request application.
At least forty-five percent of
each school’s total allocation
is spent on the arts. This may
be used to underwrite visual
and performing arts perfor-
mances and enrich the
school’s arts education pro-
grams. Funding for science
and technology is used to
enhance established programs
or expand into needed areas.
School Gardens provide hands-on
experiences to create outdoor
classrooms that become living
textbooks and provide opportuni-
ties across the curriculums. Com-
bining these four areas into one
program allows schools to fulfill
their individual needs.
The Grants for Schools program
provides opportunities for teach-
ers to turn ideas into reality when
applying for up to $3000 in grant
money. These grants provide
exciting learning environments,
innovative activities and pro-
grams that strengthen teaching
and meet specific needs in the
learning process.
The REPresenting Our
Schools Art Project offers
young artists the opportunity to
display their unique talents.
Selected student art work is
produced into note cards that
encourage support of the arts in
schools.
The RESCUE the Instruments
provides money to repair and
replace musical instruments for
elementary schools’ wind and
strings classes. This program
encourages students to contin-
ue pursuing music in upper
grades.

with Lloyd and Jan Jacobson, fund
the Classified portion of the pro-
gram, providing each winner with
$500. In addition, the SchoolsFirst
Federal Credit Union gives each of
the eight winners a $100 VISA gift
card. Although we believe all RUSD
teachers and employees are out-
standing, this event encourages
recognition of peers and reminds
everyone of their dedication to
students.
The recognition of the Outstanding
Teachers and Classified Employees
of the Redlands Unified School
District is a festive annual spring
time event. REP organizes and
hosts this event for RUSD. Teachers
and classified employees are nomi-
nated by their peers and selected by
a panel of community volunteers.
The Physicians of the Beaver Medi-
cal Group is a sponsoring organiza-
tion, providing $1000 to each of the
four selected teachers and $500 to
each winner’s school.
TEEN ADVISORY COUNCIL (TAC) REP Foundation offers high school students a leadership
opportunity to assist REP and other community events. The
teens serve as wonderful REP ambassadors throughout the
school year. They each can acquire volunteer hours through
serving guests, helping set up and take down events, taking
photos and documenting REP activities.

www.rep4schools.com
2016 marked the 29th Anniversary of the REP
Foundation and we continue to support and enrich
education in RUSD through our many programs.
In 1987, a small group of concerned parents held a
phone-a-thon to ask community members to
donate their State tax rebate to create start-up
money for REP. Twenty-nine years later, we are
still reaching out to make a difference in the
educational experience of our students.
In 1988, the Grants for Schools program gave a
maximum of $400 per grant. That has grown to a
maximum award of $3,000 per grant with a budget
of $40,000.
In 1987, each school was given $400 for the Arts.
In 2001, an additional $500 was given to each
school for gardens and in 2004, additional funds
were given in support of science and technology.
In 2016-17, our 26 schools were awarded over
$57,000 in funding to help keep the Arts alive and
to promote Science and Technology.
In 1987, REP supported $16,000 in enrichment
programs and today that amount is over $120,000
in enrichment and grant programs. Since 1987,
REP has contributed more than $1.5 million to
RUSD schools! On behalf of the Board of
Directors, I would like to thank all of those who
support REP. Together, we continue to strengthen
our students’ educational experience!
