Melbourne is the capital and most popular city in the state of Victoria.
With a population of 4,246,345 it is the second biggest city after Sydney, in Australia. The city is pretty diverse and multicultural. The cultural diversity is reflected in the city's restaurants serving various international cuisines.
Melbourne has a moderate oceanic climate and is well known for its changeable weather conditions. Melbournians even say that you can have all four seasons in Melbourne on one single day! That’s what I experienced there as well.
Melbourne is notable as the host city for the 1956 Summer Olympic Games and the 2006 Commonwealth Games. The city is home to three major annual international sporting events: the Australian Open, the Melbourne Cup and the Australian Grand Prix.
Melbourne was ranked as the world's most liveable city in ratings published by the Economist Group's Intelligence Unit in August 2011 and again in 2012.

I have been working at the Alfred during my placement.
The Alfred is a major tertiary referral teaching hospital. It has a major role in the provision of specialist tertiary and quaternary services on a statewide and national basis.
The Alfred was founded in 1871, it is the oldest Melbourne hospital that is operating on its original site.
It was built in honour of His Royal Highness, Prince Alfred, Duke of Edinburgh, who survived an assassination attempt in 1868 while visiting Australia. The people of Melbourne were so thankful for the safety of the Prince that they established a fund to build a hospital in his name.

Tasks and responsibilities during my placement at the AlfredI was part of the Performance Review and Development project team, which means that I spent most of my time with...
organising pilot group meetings
developing templates for different roles and divisions by communicating with our pilot groups
developing a presentation for pilot group meetings to ‘sell’ the project and outline the process
developing a short time solution to new starters who don’t have already arranged IT access in time when they start instead of LMS Nursing Education online training
creating a list outlining the risks and issues of the project
tracking feedback from different pilot groups
setting up the online system with sections and templates, new roles and users
Beside the project work I tried my best to support the Recruitment team with their daily work.

The Rocks is where Sydney began. The precinct became established shortly after the colony's formation in 1788.
This area had a reputation as a slum, today the Rocks is a partly gentrified area but there is still a significant problem of urban poverty and street crime.
