Summery
In this topic we are telling you about verbal & Nonverbal
communication. Communication is the process of transmitting message
between sender and receiver. Communication may be has two types
(Verbal and nonverbal communication) in which we briefly discuss on
verbal and nonverbal communication. Verbal communication means
communicating with words, written or spoken. Nonverbal
communication in communication through using wordless words.
Nonverbal communication consists on different forms like Eye contact,
Facial expression, postures, touching, gestures and signs. We will some
discuss on these forms in our report.

INTRODUCTION
Communication
Is the Process of transmitting information between sender and receiving
called communication, It may be two types of communication.
1. Verbal Communication
2. Nonverbal Communication
Before moving towards, lets keep in your mind that verbal
communication and nonverbal communication are interconnected and
they operate together in communication.
In verbal communication and nonverbal communication main difference
is, in verbal communication we use our voice for communicating and in
nonverbal communication we use body signs for communication.
Lets some discuss on that.
Verbal Communication
Verbal communication means communicating with words, written or
spoken. Verbal communication consists of speaking, listening, writing
and reading.
Characteristics of Effective Verbal
communication
Consider the objective
Be Sincere
Use simple language, familiar words
Be brief and precise
Assume nothing
Use polite words and tone
Say something interesting and pleasing

Nonverbal Communication
Nonverbal communication includes all unwritten and unspoken
messages, both intentional and unintentional.
Nonverbal communication = communication without words
Nonverbal communication is the process of communication through
sending and receiving wordless messages.

More than voice or even words, nonverbal communication helps to
create your image in others mind and even you can express your

Eye Contact
Eye contact is key characteristic of nonverbal communication, expresses
much without a using single word. In American culture, maintaining
eye contact shows respect and indicates interest.
Eye contact also establishes the nature of relationship.

Facial Expressions
Facial expressions are the key characteristics of nonverbal
communication. Your facial expression can communicate happiness,
sadness, anger or fear.

Posture
Postures and how you carry yourself tells a lot about you. How you
walk, sit, stand or hold your head not only indicates your current mood,
but also your personality in general.
For example, if you cross your arms while standing, you indicate that
you may be closed off and defensive. Meanwhile, walking with your
head down and avoiding eye contact with others may indicates shyness.

Haptic and Touch
Haptic communication is communicating by touch. Touch or haptic is
the characteristic of nonverbal communication and used when we come
into physical contact with other people.
For example: We use handshakes to gain trust and introduce ourselves.

A gesture is the characteristic of nonverbal communication in which
visible body actions communicate particular message.
Gestures include movement of hands, face, or other parts of the body.

The Chinese dont like being touched by strangers. Therefore dont make

A handshake and nod show respect when greeting someone.
In India
Greeting with Namaste placing both hand together is a very
common nonverbal communication and show respect.
