Overall Part I Crime according to the Uniform Crime Report
definition Actual Crime is up 1.27%
Violent Crime UCR Actual is up 4.03%
MPD arrests were up 2.15% Guns: 142 more guns were taken off the street in 2012 than in
2011, a 27 % increase. A total of 353 guns from the Fourth
Precinct were placed into evidence.

Youth Diversion in 2012
The MPD saw increases in juvenile enforcement in these categories:
Aggravated Assault Arrests were up 11%
Burglary arrests were up 22%
Motor Vehicle Theft arrests were up 67%
Curfew violators brought to the JSC were up 25 %
Curfew arrests were up 5%
Truants brought to the JSC were up 46%
In 2012, the MPD saw decreases in juvenile enforcement in these categories:
Juvenile arrests for robbery were down 5%
Juvenile arrests for prostitution were down 86%
Juvenile arrests for vandalism were down 18%

MINNEAPOLIS POLICE ~ FIFTH PRECINCT
Led by Inspector Matt Clark prior to his promotion toAssistant Chief, Fifth Precinct experienced a 17.7%
decrease in violent crimes.
Robbery was down 15%
Domestic Assaults were down 23%
Aggravated Assaults (non-domestic) were down 32%.
Fifth Precinct officers made 651 more arrests in 2012
than in 2011. Focused on juvenile crime, Fifth Precinct saw a 62%
increase in Curfew arrests in 2012.
Employing a hot spots based strategy, crime in the
Steven Square hot spot, crime decreased 15.58%
