The World Ozone Day in

Mongolia has successfully

celebrated from 14th to 16th of

September 2017, organized by

National Ozone Authority,

Ministry of Environment and

Tourism of Mongolia in

Ulaanbaatar.

This year is very special for

the global Ozone Heroes.

Because, we are also celebrating

the 30th Anniversary of the

historic achievement of the

Montreal Protocol for the

phasing out the ozone depleting

substances.

In this year, World Ozone

Day on the theme of “Caring for

all life under the sun” has been

celebrated by having scientific

lecture for the general public,

press conference for all national

televisions and also mountain

trekking to the Bogd Khan

Mountain, the Special Protected

Area in South of Ulaanbaatar.

1. Scientific lecture for the stakeholders and general public

The scientific and cognitive

lecture on the theme of “Caring

for all life under the sun” for

stakeholders and general public

been organized on 14 September

2017 at the National Legislation

Institute, Ulaanbaatar.

In the scientific lecture

dedicated to the 30th

Anniversary of the Montreal

Protocol at ozone depleting

substances and World ozone day

“Caring for all life under the

sun” participated about 120

people including delegates from

The lector answered for all

key questions and it gave the

beneficial and latest information

about the phase out of the

consumption and production of

the ozone depleting substances

and historic achievements of

Montreal Protocol. The lecture

started broadcasting on “Soyon

Gereeruulegch” TV of

Mongolia from 16th to 30th of

September, 2017 in 15 times for

all nations of Mongolia.

Adiyasuren Ts., announced

Mrs. Enkhtuya S., who has

awarded the Fighting Pollution

Crime in Asia from the Asia

Environmental Enforcement

Award 2017 in Bangkok,

Thailand on 8th of September,

2017.

1.2 After the lecture Prof.

Adiyasuren Ts., the Director of

NOA and Mrs. Dulamsuren D.,

the Senior HPMP officer of

NOA had given interview to the

journalists from Mongolian

National Broadcaster- MNB and

VTV.

2. Press conference

The press conference was held

at the “Khaan Hall” of Ministry

of Environment and Tourism for

all daily news broadcasting

national televisions on 15

September, 2017. The press

conference was opened by Mr.

Ekhbat A., the Director of

Environmental Assessment and

Audit Department of MET.

Prof., Adiyasuren Ts., the

Director of NOA, Dr. Batjargal

Zamba, the Special envoy of

UNCC and National Consultant

on INDCs, Mr. Usukhjatgal B.,

the Director of Mongolian

HVACR Association, Mrs.

HPMP Officer of NOA were

given a short intoduction of

ozone layer, latest information

of ozone depleting substances

and their alternatives. During

the press conference journalists

received answers for their

interested questions about ozone

layer. In the evening all national

televisions were broadcasted

news on ozone layer protection

and the 30th Anniversary of

Montreal Protocol in their

headline news.

3. Mountain trekking for the World Ozone Day

The National Ozone

Authority and Mongolian

Heating Ventilation, Air

Conditioning and Refrigeration

Association jointly organized a

mountain trekking to “West

Shireet Peak” which is in south

of Ulaanbaatar at 2080 m above

sea level of the Bogd Khan

Mountain, the Special Protected

Area to celebrate the World

Ozone Day on 16 September

2017. About 100 participants

including the association’s

member entities and NOA

officers who are in age from 5 to

55 were celebrated this day

under the appeal of “Let’s Save

Our Ozone Layer” and actively

participated in this event.

3.1 During the mountain

trekking, Mrs. Dulamsuren D.,

the Senior HPMP Officer of

NOA delivered message on

benefit of the ozone layer

protection and importance of

selection and use of ozone-

climate friendly and energy

efficient alternatives.

Hikers had placed one

information board in the bright

glade of the Bogd Khan

Mountain forest appealed “Let’s

save the ozone layer and it

protects us”, which is available

any hiker can see the

information board and

understand the benefits of ozone

layer protection.
