Case Study Cancer (Oral)

Name: DattaAnantaDeshbhandari Age: 65 Sex: Male Address:MallapurKumta

Surgeon’s Name: Dr.ShekharSalkar Surgery done: Wide excision with primary closure

Anaesthesia: (GA) Date: 12th Nov 2017

History: DattaAnantaDeshbhandari 65year old resident of MallapyVillage, Kumta, lives with his wife and has no children. Datta’s wife works as a cleaner in 2 households and has a monthly income of Rs 1200. Datta has left his job as a daily labourer and his wife supports the family. Dutta had proliferative growth on the corner of the lower left lip since 6months. He did not show to any doctor and decided to wait until the growth shed off by itself. Screening and Surgery: He learnt about the Lifeline Express project in Kumta from his neighbours and decided to visit the train for cancer screening. The oncologists on train decided to take biopsy for the patient and the first biopsy report came negative for cancer. But looking at strong clinical suspicion the oncologist and the oncosurgeon decided on operating the patient as a preventive measure . He and his wife were informed that though the first report is negative for cancer there are high chances of the lesion to be cancerous and thus surgery is the only solution. After consent, Datta was successfully operated on the Lifeline Express free of charge.
