AND KANYASHREE MELA

‘Kanyashree Prakalpa’ is an innovative project of the Government of West Bengal

with the intention to enhance the educational status amongst the girl children

belonging to the age group of 13 years to 18 years and 18 years to 19 years. Such an

endeavour is first of its kind in the history of West Bengal and we convey our sincere

gratitude and indebtedness to our Hon’ble Chief Minister for such innovation.

As it is a dream project of Hon’ble Chief Minister, Government of West Bengal,

Kolkata Municipal Corporation also extended its hand to assist the Social Welfare

Department, Government of West Bengal to reach its desired destination.

The following activities were performed by the Education Department, Kolkata

Municipal Corporation for smooth implementation of ‘Kanyashree Prakalpa’ and to

reach its target upto March, 2014.

1) Several meetings on ‘Kanyashree Prakalpa’ were held in the presence of

Municipal Commissioner along with the Chairman of all Boroughs, Jt.

Secretary (Social Welfare Department), OSD (Social Welfare Department),

D.P.I., D.I. (Secondary), and officials of Education Department under the

chairmanship of Hon’ble MMIC (Education), Smt. Mitali Banerjee.

2) It has been decided that Education Department will look after the

‘Kanyashree Prakalpa’ in the KMC area and Chief Manager (Education) will

be the Nodal Officer of that Prakalpa.

3) A office regarding ‘Kanyashree Prakalpa’ was opened at the Planning and

Development Building, S.S. Hogg Market, 2nd Floor, Conference Hall for

distribution of K2 form of colleges, receiving of the forms and also to fulfil the

queries of the public.

4) The decision was also taken for conducting ‘Kanyashree Mela’ in each

Borough and accordingly the ‘Kanyashree Mela’ was successfully completed

at 15 Boroughs. Total Number of 3487 K1 and 659 numbers of K2 form was

distributed in the Mela.

5) Caps were also given to the Kanyashree beneficiaries in the said Mela.

All the ‘Kanyashree Mela’ in each Borough was inaugurated by Smt. Mitali Banerjee,

Hon’ble MMIC (Education) and the Mela has been successfully completed under the

guidance and kind co-operation of the MMIC (Education).

We pay our sincere thanks to the Chairman of all Boroughs, Executive Engineer

(Civil) of all Boroughs without them this could not have been organised.

We are also grateful to each and every one who helped us directly or indirectly to

achieve our goal.
