It is an indirect way of talking or it is also called Indirect Speech.We use it when we want to repeat what someone else says or said

When the reported verb (say or tell) is in present or future, the sentence stays in the same tense.

Examples:• “I am sick”

He says he is sick• “I am sick”

He will say he is sick

When the reported verb is in past, there are many changes in the tense according to the tense given in the sentences.
