REPORTED SPEECH É TAMBÉM CHAMADO DEINDIRECT SPEECH.

Usamos o Reported Speech quando narramos um fato de maneira indireta.

Direct speech

John said: -Jack is here.

Fred said: -I work on Mondays.

Reported speech

John said that Jack was there.

Fred said he worked on Mondays.

ATTENTION

É necessário dominar tempos verbais e seus usos para compreender Reported Speech.

Simple Present - Simple past

Fred said: -I work on Mondays. Reported speech Fred said he worked on Mondays.

Simple past – Past Perfect

Michael said “I studied for 5 hours yesterday.”

Reported speech Michael said he had studied for 5

hours the day before.

Simple Future – Conditional(WOULD) Bill said” I´ll go to Germany next

month”.Reported speech Bill said he would go to Germany

the following month.

Present Continuous- Past Continuous

They said “ We are winning”.Reported speech They said they were winning.

Past Progressive- Past Perfect Progressive

Ana said “Jane was reading my books.”

Reported speech Ana said Jane had been reading

her books.

Future Progressive- Conditional Progressive

I said”I will be having dinner “Reported speech I said I would be having dinner.

Present Perfect- Past Perfect

Jim said “ She´s lived here since last year”.

Reported speech Jim said She had lived there since

the previous year .

Future Perfect- Conditional Perfect

Alice said” They will have finished the house tomorrow”.

Reported speech Alice said they would have finished

the house the following day.

Interrogativa

He said “Where is Jackie?” He asked where Jackie was.

Yes or No Question- IF or WHETHER

Wilson said to her“ Are you Japanese?”

Wilson asked her if she was Japanese.

Mary said “ Will they go with me?”. Mary asked whether they would go

with her.

Imperativo-ask / tell

My mother said ”Go to bed” . My mother told me to go to bed.

My teacher said “Repeat the sentence”.

My teacher asked me to repeat the sentence.

Imperativo negativo- NOT TO My father said “Don´t watch TV”. My father told me not to watch TV.  Grandma said “Don´t play video

game”. Grandma said not to play video

game.
