MY GENERATION MY PARENTS

• When you think of TV dads – who do you think of?

• What type of character would you come to expect as a representation of dads in the media?

Page 3: Representation age

Analyse this…

• You are going to watch a scene from Skins, in which a teenage boy and his dad are represented.

• Watch the clip and make a note of the use of shot, sounds, editing & m-e-s by circling type of shot and sounds used and writing a brief description of them.

Close up shows the dad’s bum

crack – making him an object of

ridicule for the audience.

Question:

• How does the representation of age encourage the viewer to side with the teenager – even if they are close in age to the father character? (shot, sound, editing, m-e-s)
