Representation In Our Video In our music video, we aimed to put forward a representation that many young people today can relate to. Our video is based around gender stereotypes, so the main character’s friends had to be clearly female. This is so that we could show the pressures that the main charcter is going through as she feels pressured to also dress like a ‘typical girl when she really wants to be herself. Our shots in the studio where the charcter is singing to the camera highlights the confusion that she is feeling. Another shot highlighting this confusion is the outdoor shot where the character is trying to explain to the ‘girl’ side of her that its okay to be herself. For the boy/girl contrast we used hoodies and jeans vs skirts and makeup.

Representation In Our VideoIn our music video, we aimed to put forward a representation that many young people today can relate to.

These are the boy/girl sides that we created using a split screen and the stereotypical boy/girl colours of blue and pink to emphasise the contrast. Both girls follow the stereotypes of their ‘gender’, the girl side wearing makeup and a skirt and behaving in a feminine way – touching her hair, the boy side wearing a hoodie cap and jeans.
