Requesting PermissionA visual overview
The global church desperately needs
discipleship resources in their own languages,
that are effective in their own cultures. Most
discipleship resources that could be made
useful to them are under copyright with terms
of use that do not permit translation and
adaptation of the content.
Gaining access to a copyrighted, all rightsreserved resource is a lengthy, costly and
prohibitively complicated process (see
flowchart #1). For a believer in another part of
the world, who speaks a different language
and has no formal legal training, it effectively
prevents their use of the resource.
By contrast, the process for gaining legal
access to a discipleship resource releasedunder a Creative Commons Attribution-Share
Alike License such as those in the Door43
project, http://door43.org is simple, clear
and easily accomplished (see flowchart #2).
