Announcing the NRJE Research Award 1. The NRJE Research Award recognizes an outstanding article or chapter in an edited volume by an untenured scholar. The author can be a junior faculty member or an administrator, practitioner, policy analyst, or researcher, who has received his/her doctorate within the past six years. Co-authored works are acceptable as long as the untenured researcher is the primary author. 2. All nominations must be made through a formal application process. The process includes the completion of an application by the author, a curriculum vitae, and receipt of two references attesting to the excellence of the scholarship by experts in the field. All the forms can be found on the NRJE website. 3. The author must be a current member of the NRJE. 4. The research can be linked to a dissertation or any other area of research as long as it contributes to the understanding of a significant educational issue or question applicable to Jewish education. 5. The Awards Committee will review each application using the following criteria: a. Clarity of exposition b. Familiarity with relevant literatures c. Methodological rigor d. Potential to advance knowledge in the field. The Committee can consult outside experts if necessary. 6. The winner of the NRJE Research Prize is strongly encouraged to participate in the conference of that year, during which the award will be presented. Registration fees for the conference will be waived as part of the NRJE Research Prize. The winner is also expected to participate in future activities of the Network. 7. The awardee is also encouraged to apply for NRJE travel awards to allow him or her to participate in the annual conference. Applications should be directed to Carol K. Ingall, Chair of the Awards Committee, [email protected] by April 7, 2013 and will be announced at the NRJE conference in New York, at the Jewish Theological Seminary, June 2-4, 2013.
