    MESSAGE FROM DEAN

SIT aspires to achieve excellence in technical education. Any educationalinstitution which focuses solely on training of undergraduate students degenerates into astatic institution. We at SIT focus on research and education as the twin goals of theorganization. Usually, faculties are able to evolve with both ideas and technologicaldevelopments in their fields. Technology is an ever growing phenomenon. The benefitsof ever improving technology should be made available to students. This will enablethem to learn new technologies, acquire appropriate skills and deliver meaningfulservices to society when they join the professional world. SIT believes that Research

    benefits humanity.

Research at SIT is usually undertaken in collaboration with industry, academiaand government. The research projects enjoy support from DST, AICTE, PuneUniversity and more. Faculties at SIT are encouraged to publish papers and presenttheir work at International/National Conferences. The SIT faculties also regularlyorganize national and international conferences in the fields of their specialization. AtSIT, students both at the UG & PG level are given an opportunity to participate in theseactivities. Research activity at SIT is part and parcel of all departments.

In addition, dedicated Research Centres have also been established in order to

promote research activities in each department. We have Sign MoU with Aalborg

University, Denmark for Faculty Mobility. Our 15 faculty and 4 students are pursuing their PhD and Masters respectively. We arepartner of European Commission with 19 Asian and European University for facultyMobility.

We are Founder institutional member of Global ICT Standardisation Forum for

India (GISFI). Our Institution is Head office of GISFI. The Global ICT StandardizationForum for India (GISFI) is an Indian standardization body active in the area ofInformation and Communication Technologies (ICT) and related application areas, suchas energy, telemedicine, wireless robotics, biotechnology.

GISFI is an effort to create a new coherence and strengthen the role of India inthe world standardization process by mapping the achievements in ICT in India to theglobal standardization trends. Further, GISFI is focused on strengthening the ties amongleading and emerging scholars and institutions in India and the world; to develop andcultivate a research and development agenda for the field.

GISFI addresses the research and product development of ICT in Indiaand provides a bridge towards the globalization of the Indian achievements ;the issues of technology, governance, and development; and a platform forraising an awareness of the importance and the internationalization of

the higher education in the field are supported by the joint partnership with theGovernment of India. The working groups organized in GISFI will draw knowledgefrom academia, business, civil society, and Government/policy-making circles.
