Research Means Hope
Clay Marsh, MD
Professor of Medicine
Vice Dean, Research, COM
Research Means Hope• A coalition of concerned patients and the
physicians and researchers of America's medical schools, teaching hospitals, universities, research companies and organizations.
• We believe that medical research is the beginning of hope for everyone suffering from serious illnesses like cancer, diabetes, Alzheimer's, depression and Parkinson's and the key to understanding wellness.
Traditionally, education, research, and patient care have been seen as the tripartite missions of academic health centers. However, it may be more useful to identify these three features as objectives pursued to accomplish the singular mission of the academic health center - to marry science and medicine.

What Does This Culture Allow Us to Do?
