Types of research

Case StudySupply chain management is case study research. It is the Study of single group, incident.

Rather than using samples and following a rigid protocol to examine limited no. of variables ,case study involves a in depth longitudinal examination.

Research Approach QUALITATIVE approachSupply chain management concerned with

subjective assessment of attitude, opinions. The focus in qualitative research

is complex and broad.

Helps in having insight into problems or cases

Research problem

“Effective management of buyer- supplier relationship is crucial to maintaining the work performance levels of org. yet, little is know about this important relationship.”

Research ObjectiveThe research goal of this work is to make a contribution

to improvement of export supply chain management.

To evaluate the current approaches to performance measurement regarding export management.

Research Designdescriptive

The present qualitative research concerns 2 phases.

The first phase qualitative expert’s interviews with 7 people is used to explore and discuss the buyer-

seller relationship factors, generated from the review of literature, and their interrelationships. The findings of the experts interviews refine that

in focal exporter-producer relationship is becoming increasingly essential to be created by the BSRNT-dimensions for better providing valid

conceptual framework of ExSCM and propositions .

Research Design The second phase qualitative multiple-

case study of 10 cases is used to test the conceptual framework of ExSCM and propositions developed from the first phase synthesized with ExSCM literature. In addition, this research is influenced by ground theory and different experts are reached to refine the several research design steps

Data collectionSemi-structured interviews are used to interview

the respondents face-to-face using open-ended questions mainly based on the interview’s protocol.

The unit of analysis is the focal exporter-producer relationship that is based on interviewing each focal relationship players, the exporter and the producer, as one case study in their offices.

Analysis Of Data

Supply chain management: A multidisciplinary content analysis of vertical relations between companies, .

It gives a good overview of SCM research published in journals related to marketing, logistics, management, and marketing channels.

The authors find that the work type of most research is empirical in nature, primary information is used more often than secondary information, the information type is mostly quantitative in nature, studies are mainly explanatory-predictive, the period of time in which the research is carried out is mostly cross-sectional, the geographical area is mainly national, and manufacturing samples are used most often. Particularly, the article confirms my suspicion that there is “shortage of studies conducted on the supply chain as a network of enterprises“.

Instead, most research turns out to focus on a single enterprise or on the relationships of a single enterprise with its suppliers or customers.
