CODES / CONVENTIONS AND
RESEARCH ON DIGIPAK
A digipack is an original version of a normal
music album package. Digipack typically
consists of a gatefold paperboard or card
stock outer binding, with one or more
plastic trays capable of holding a CD or
DVD attached to the inside. Since digipaks
were among the first alternatives to jewel
cases to be used by major record
companies, the term digipak or Digi-Pak is
often used generically, even when the
media holder is a hub or “Soft Spot” rather
than a full plastic tray.

The album ‘Happiness’ by Hurts is a soft
rock music album. The thing which
attracts the most on the cover is artist’s
picture and the font. Whereas in this
condition both the things are suitable to
the soft rock music. The back cover is
plain with the list of songs, barcode and
some media partners and sponsors.

Samples of Digipak
After research work these are the sample
of digipak. These samples gave me idea
of how to design a digipak properly.
Picture of artist, list of songs and
almost same font are common in
every digipak. I would also prefer my
digipak in the same pattern.
