Reading and comprehension

“Choose a story that you feel that you could read.”“I am wanting you to read it out loud, begin when you are ready” Record errors the client makes while reading as per Running Record method. Mispronounced words, omitted words, and words incorrectly identified are to be

counted as errors. Calculate the number of words correct at the level of the text. If the client score

corresponds with a A band, get the client to attempt the next level text. If the client gets a band of B record the corresponding Level. If the client gets a band level of C, get the client to read the text a level below. Once the client has read the text, ask the comprehension questions related to the

text. The client is allowed to refer to the text to help answer the questions. Record what the client says for each comprehension question.

If the client gets 80% or more of the questions correct in either the reading or comprehension tasks repeat the task with the next level text.

The trend has been similar for cell phones too. The phones are getting smaller, but they have more features.

Level 6a A Night in the KitchenGareth was excited by the prospect of cooking a three-course meal for his colleagues. He thought carefully about what the menu for the evening would entail. With a minimum of thirty people expected, he had to be thoroughly prepared and extremely organised.

The nibbles were laid out on their respective platters, garnished with grapes and gherkins. The entrees served were delicious. So many options and therefore choices to be made. Cheeses, crackers, pate, dips, breadsticks and much more. The main course options available were marinated mussels, butter chicken or sirloin steak, each seasoned to perfection. Thinly sliced carrots, soaked in honey, were definitely the pick of the vegetables. Once his colleagues were apparently satisfied, Gareth brought out the ravishing dessert menu. Chocolate gateau, boysenberry pie with vanilla ice cream, and lemon cheesecake were all exquisitely displayed and tasted delectable.

Gareth enjoyed every moment he spent preparing the expansive smorgasbord and was pleasantly surprised at the success of the evening.

Level 6b KiwianaNew Zealand has its own unique pop culture known as Kiwiana. Only a New Zealander would invent an activity that encourages people to hurtle themselves off a bridge secured only by a rubber band. It is risky yet safe, bungy jumping is a craze that has now spread throughout the world.

A favouite for many New Zealand children is the clackety sound and spinning wings of the Buzzy Bee. Invented by two brothers, the delightful pull along toy played an integral part in any child’s life.

Number 8 wire, the solution to every problem, and the philosphy that many New Zealanders follow. Whether used to fix the old car or create a new toy, number 8 wire always found its use. The logic was also part of a New Zealander’s psyche. If it’s broken we will fix it; if it’s needed , then we will invent it.

New Zealanders have a passion for ice cream and are ranked at number 3 in world rankings of ice cream eaters. No childhood summer could be without Tip Top hokey pokey ice cream. This unique ice cream was only created in the late 1950s.
