2017-2018 RA Responsibilities

ì  Community building ì  “We are in the business of building relationships”

ì  1-on-1 interactions, planned activities

ì  Residential education

ì  Support and enforcement of the Duke Community Standards (Policy Enforcement)

ì  Administrative tasks

Eligibility Requirements

ì  Commitment second only to academics

ì  RA’s must maintain a cumulative 2.5 GPA or above at all times and be enrolled in a full time degree seeking program

ì  RA’s must be in good judicial standing with the university.

ì  RA’s will remain on campus through the first two full weeks of each semester

ì  Significant employment should be discussed with Residence Coordinator

Interview Process & Timeline

ì  Application available online starting Monday, November 7 ì  Application: http://studentaffairs.duke.edu/hdrl/student-leadership ì  Deadline: Thursday, December 15 at 11:59p ì  1st Interview (25-30 minutes)

Monday January 23 and Tuesday, January 24 Georgia- Addoms (GA) Down Under, East Campus Candidates will interview with an RC (from any area) and and RA or GR (from any area)

ì  2nd Interview (30 minutes)

Friday January 27 Georgia-Addoms (GA) Down Under, East Campus

ì  Candidates notified of decision via email on Monday, February 6, 2017

2017-2018 RA Training Dates (Tentative)

ì  RA Training for All RAs ì  Training will occur August 13-21, 2017 ì  RAs must be able to attend all of training

ì  Exceptions are granted on a case by case basis ì  Exceptions: Academic conflicts, Duke Engage

ì  RA Leadership Institute (RALI) ì  6 Week class for new and alternate RAs ì  Begins March 20, 2017 through April 24, 2017

ì  Dates are subject to change
