Obtaining your Permesso

Non-EU citizens in Italy for over 90 days require a "permit to stay" (Permesso di Soggiorno).

CITIZENS of the EU should not do this process.

If you are still in a hotel/ hostel, its not possible to applyyet for a permesso. You must have an ‘apartment address’.

Important

Signing of permesso – Saturday Sept 9th. 8:15am at Post Office (Piazza della Reppublica)

Application is at central Post Office on Via Pellicceria 3, (pza della Repubblica)

FINAL PACKAGE to be submitted to at the POSTA within 10 days.

The post office will issue a

hologram receipt. This receipt is vital

for proving your Permesso is being

processed.

There will also be a page with a

date and time for your biometric

verification at the Police Station/

Questura in Via Della Fortezza.

1. Next appointment is 2-4 months after you

arrived according to the hologram receipt.

Go with originals passport, certificates,

bank data, health and 4 photos,

2. Go to the biometrics appointment at the

Questura, on the date provided by the post.

2. After the appointment, the police will send

you a message on your cell phone, letting you

know your permesso is ready to pick up.

3. Once you have the original document in

your hand please make a photocopy and

scan (for security reasons.)

The photocopy should be kept with you at

ALL times

Before your permesso is expires be sure to

RENEW it ,every year before you leave Italy.

NOTE: Obtaining re-entry visas are very

difficult .
