2017 - 2018 Housing Options

The On Campus Experience

Rowan University features nine residence halls and eight apartment communities nestled among the trees of a 200 acre campus in historic Glassboro, New Jersey. University and affiliated residences provide easy access to campus resources, recreational facilities and social opportunities.

Students who live on campus benefit from facilities and resources that support students’ success during their first year and throughout their four year experience. Research and experience tells us that students who live on campus...

• Develop a greater sense of belonging.• Find it easier to form friendships.• Participate more in student

organizations.• Develop stronger connections to

faculty.• Increase their awareness of diversity. • Are more likely to complete a degree in

four years.

Upperclassmen HousingUpperclassmen, including transfer students, are assigned to either a residence hall or apartment space. Spaces may be single or double occupancy. Bathrooms are usually shared by two to six students. All buildings are co-ed. With the agreement of apartment-mates, students may choose roommates without restrictions based on gender.

Mandatory Housing PolicyFreshmen and sophomores (students with fewer than 58 credits) who are unmarried and under age 21 are required to live in University housing unless they will be commuting from a parent or guardians’ home within a 40 mile radius of campus.

Students who plan to commute must submit a notarized statement of student residence form to the housing office.

Furnishings & AmenitiesAll spaces are fully furnished with an extra-long twin bed, dresser, desk and closet or wardrobe for each student. Most rooms are carpeted. Non-carpeted rooms may be requested on a space available basis. Air-conditioning is standard in Holly Pointe Commons and in all apartments except Triad (first floor only). Traditional residence halls are not air-conditioned. Internet and cable TV services are included in all housing options. In addition, every residence hall has a common lounge, and most halls provide additional recreational and study spaces.

StaffWell trained and dedicated staff are available in every University residence to support residents’ academic success and promote the development of a safe and inclusive community.

Freshman HousingFreshmen are housed in one of nine residence halls on campus. Residence halls feature primarily double occupancy rooms, with a limited number of singles available. In residence halls, students share common bathrooms. All residence halls are co-ed. Students in traditional residence halls may request roommates of their same gender. Students may request roommates without restrictions based on gender in Holly Pointe Commons.
