Resistor

A resistor is a component that limits the flow of current in a circuit. Resistors are categorized into the fixed resistor and variable resistor type. The value of the resistance of a resistor can be determined by the standard colour codes for resistors.

Multimeter

A multimeter can be used to measure D.C and A.C Voltages, D.C and A.C current and also resistance. It is called a multimeter because it can function as a voltmeter, ammeter and ohmmeter. In addition to these, it can also perform diode, transistor identification and continuity tests. Multimeter can be categorized into analog and digital multimeters. In this introductory lab session a digital multimeter will be used to measure the resistance values of resistors and compare them with the resistance values obtained by using the colour codes.
