The central element is the rotary knob with integrated pushbutton. In combination with a 4-place display, the user is allowed to access system menus and change control parameters within set limits. This simple concept gives the user the confidence to use the regulator without affecting any of the essential operational functions. This version of the regulator is additionally equipped with the RESOL V-BUS for connection of additional modules such as remote data display, data logger, PC-adapter as well as a calorimeter and a RS232-interface for direct data output to a PC. The regulator DeltaSol PRO is also available as an individual OEM-version, so that ad- ditional adaptations to the system are possible. (to be continued next page)

Additional programmes may optionally be added to enableoptimum control of the system.

In designing this regulator great importance has been attached to enclosing the essentialcomponents. The central element is the rotary knob with integrated pushbutton. Incombination with a 4-place display, the user is allowed to access system menus andchange control parameters within set limits. This simple concept gives the user theconfidence to use the regulator without affecting any of the essential operationalfunctions.

This version of the regulator is additionally equipped with the RESOL V-BUS forconnection of additional modules such as remote data display, data logger, PC-adapteras well as a calorimeter and a RS232-interface for direct data output to a PC.

The regulator DeltaSol PRO is also available as an individual OEM-version, so that ad-ditional adaptations to the system are possible.

Safety regulations:Please read the following information carefully before installing and operating the regulator. In this way damage to theregulator or the solar system will be avoided. All electrical wiring must comply with the latest IEE regualtions.

1. Mounting Warning:Switch of power supplybefore opening the housing !

Please unlock both snap connections (1) at the top and atthe bottom of the housing by means of a pointed item. Thehousing (2) can now be removed from the base (3). Therequired openings and cable feed-throughs (4) must bebroken through and deburred. The positions for the 4fastening screws (5) must be marked and the base may beattached by means of the enclosed screws and dowels. Theelectrical connection can be effected now.

The unit must only be located internally. It is not suitablefor installation in hazardous locations and should not besited near to any electromagnetic fields.

1.2 Electrical connectionThe power supply to the regulator must only be made byan external power supply switch (last step of mounting!)and the line voltage must be 230 Volt ± 10 % (50...60 Hz).

Pumps, valves, ... can be connected to the consumer-outputs R1 and R2 of the terminals at the base:12 = conductor R214 = conductor R111, 13 = neutral conductor N

ground clamp = protective earth conductor

The power supply is effected at the terminals:15 = neutral conductor N16 = conductor L

The regulator RESOL DeltaSol Pro is equipped with aRESOL V-BUS-connection for data transmission andenergy supply (terminals 7 and 8, marking of connection„BUS“ at the base-/ isolation plate). One or more RESOLV-Bus modules can be connected by this data bus:

• RESOL WMZ-M1, calorimeter-module.

• RESOL DFA2, temperature- and malfunction display forcomfortable control of the most important measuring dataat remote places.

• RESOL PC-adapter for transmission of the measuring datato a connected PC. Evaluation and visualisation occurs bythe software DeltaSol PC.

Further modules are in preparation.

At the lower front of the regulator is a special plug jackfor the second data output.

A PC can be directly connected by RS232-interface to thisdata output. By means of the free evaluation toolsDeltaSol PC, the values measured by the regulator canbe read-out, processed and visualizased. The softwareenables a comfortable balance and function control of thesystem, but also an editing of the data records for a furt-her processing in other application programmes. Theevaluation tool DeltaSol PC can be downlaoded free ofcharge from the RESOL homepage in the Internet(www.resol.de) or can be directly ordered at RESOL-Elek-tronische Regelungen GmbH together with a patch cord(see page 2).

You will find the location of the special plug jack imprintedon the base/isolation plate at the posititon marked withRS232.

Precision-platin-temperature sensors Pt1000 (FKP andFRP) are used for the RESOL DELDELDELDELDELTTTTTA PA PA PA PA Prrrrrooooo.

The arrangement of the sensors is of great importance tothe total efficiency of the regulator. The collectortemperature should be measured in the upper part of thecollector. In stores with own heat exchanger, the sensormust be directly mounted in the upper part of the heatexchanger. By using external heat exchangers, the sensormust be fixed at the bottom of the store. For individualoperation systems, our product range contains 3 differenttypes of sensors (sensors for installation in presentimmersion sleeves, flatscrew sensors or cylindrical clip-onsensors). The sensor types FK and FR have the sameelectrical features and are available in the same models,They only differ in the connecting cable:

Standard temperature sensors: for installation in presentimmersion sleeves (they are included in complete packages)FKP6 or FRP6: 6 mm, Pt1000

Immersion sensors: available in different length(=immersion depth)FKP60: 60mm immersion depth, chromium-plated copperFKP150: 150mm immersion depth, chromium-platedcopperImportant: The sensors must be completely pushed intothe sleeve and the nut must be slightly tightened.

Cylindrical clip-on sensors: for any pipe diameter, cpl.with fastening collarFKP20 or FRP20Ensure good thermal contact of the sensor with the pipeworkby cleaning the contact area and by applying heat conductionpaste between sensor and pipe. In order to protect the sensorcable against outside temperature influences, it isrecommended to insulate the pipe.

Flatscrew sensors: for installation on flat surfacesFKP8 or FRP8Ensure good thermal contact. Use conduction paste andinsulate the sensors against outside temperature influences.

Indication:In order to avoid overvoltage damage at the collector (e.g.by lightening), it is highly recommendend to use theovervoltage protection RESOL SP1.

FK... : collector sensorFR... : store sensor

FK: 1,5 m weather- and temperature resistant silicone cablefor temperatures between -50 °C ... +180 °C, mostly used forcollectors.

FR: 2,5 m PVC cable for tempertures between-5 °C ... +80 °C, mostly used for stores.

Make sure that all electrical works are carried out accordingto the relevant local and IEE-regulations. The sensor cablescarry low voltages and they must not run together in acable conduit with cables carrying higher voltages than 50Volt. By using longer cables or cable conduits, please usescreened cables. The seensor cables can be lengthened upto 100 m, but the cross section must be 1,5 mm² (or 0,75mm² up to a cable length of 50m); screened cables shouldbe used preferably. The sensors must not get directly incontact with water, please use always immersion sleeves.

The plain text-display shows a 4-line section of the choosenmenu. The flashing cursor shows the actual position withinthis menu. A small arrow symbol on the upper right sideof the display indicates the possible scroll directions of thecursor. By turning the rotary knob, the cursor runsthrough the menu. By pushing the integrated pushbuttona menu item can be choosen. By turning the rotary knobagain, the standard value can be changed. By pushing oncemore the pushbutton, the modification is finished. Amaladjustment is avoided by a security inquiry check, whichcan be answered with (Y)es or (N)o.

4. Basic systems and menu

The regulator RESOL DeltaSol Pro is programmed for 4basic systems:System 1: 1 collector and 1 storeSystem 2: 1 collector and 2 storesSystem 3: 2 collectors and 1 storeSystem 4: swimming-pool system

The basic systems can be adjusted to each system byactivating or deactivating additional options in the menu.Please find a more detailed description of all possiblesystems in point 6 of this instruction.

4.1 Basic systems

4.1.1 Main menu

The following submenus are available in the main menu:

Meas. values: Indication of actual sensor temperatures,relays status and time

Adj. values: System selection and adjustment of controlparameter or regulation default

Options: Activation or deactivation of systemdependent additional options

Bal. values: Time- and temperature balances forregulation and system

Error report: Failure report

The measurement values menu offers the possibility todisplay the actual sensor temperatures for S1 up to S3, therelative on-period for relays 1 and 2 and for indication oradjustment of time:

Sensor 1: present temperature at sensor 1 in °C

Sensor 2: present temperature at sensor 2 in °C

Sensor 3: present temperature at sensor 3 in °C

Relay 1: present relative on period for relay 1in %

Relay 2: present relative on period for relay 2 in %

Time: Indication and adjustment of the actual time

4.1.2 Measured values

Indication:The selective adjusted values and options aresystem dependent and can only be found in thedisplay if the they are available for the choosenbasic system. By chosing BACK at the end of eachmenu, you will get back to the main menu. You willfind a menu structogram on page10.

All available additional options can be activated ordeactivated by replying (Y)es/(N)o in the option menu:

Frost protection: As soon as the temperature falls under +4°C,warmer water from the store wil be pumpedinto the collector in order to avoid frostdamages. If the temperature of +5°C isachieved at the solar panel, the pump switchesoff again.Indication: This function is onlyappropriate for countries with few days oftemperatures at freezing point.

Sp-protection:The store can indeed be charged up bythe collector cooling function above theadjusted maximum temperature, but notexceeding 90°C.

Tube col.: Switch-on logic for improvement of theturn-on characteristics of systems withunfavourable placed collector sensors -prevents a belated switching-on of thesystem. The collector circuit is switched onevery 30 min. for a period of 30 sec.

Recooling: If the maximum store temperature isexceeded, the solar pump is switched onfor cooling purposes in order to avoid anoverheating of the collector. The

Collector cool.:If the collector temperature rises above theadjusted maximum collector temperature(120°C), the pump remains activated untilthis temperature limit value is againunderrun.

Bypass: The bypass valve is switched on if thetemperature difference between bypasssensor and store sensor is higher than∆Ton2. It is again switched off if thisdifference is lower than ∆Toff2.

Thermos. R2: Use of relay output 2 for the thermostatfunction (cooling- or heating function).

4.1.5 Balance values

Short circuit: Interruption of the sensor lead withindication of the concernedtemperature sensor.

EEPROM: Error in memory chip. Modifications willnot be saved in case of a power failure.

RTC Error: Error in real-time clock. Time control ofthe thermostat function is notguaranteed.

Code deletion: Reset status of error messages.

4.1.6 Error report

1. Mounting of the housing

The upper part of the housing must be plugged on thesocket. The ac power supply is effected by an externalswitch.Warning: The snap connections of the housing mustclearly lock.

2. Switching:

The mode switch of the regulator must be set to 0before the power connection can be switched on. Afteran initialisation phase of 5 seconds, the control lamps

illuminate and red for indication of the modeswitch position.

3. Adjustments:

Please adjust now the respective basic system, therequired options and the necessary regulation defaults.Before finishing, please check all adjustments.

4. Test starting of the system and automatic operation

If the switch is set to I, the control lamps illuminate

and green in order to indicate the modeswitch position and the consumer connected toterminals 11 to 14 are supplied with power.

After having finished this test, the mode switch is to beswitched to Auto for the automatic operation.

1. Power supplyThe power supply is guaranteed if at least one control lamplights up.

2. Error reportIf there is a malfunction in the regulation circuit, the

malfunction lamp lights up. By chosing the menu pointERROR REPORT you will get into the submenu, in whicha more detailed error description is indicated:

Short-circuit: Interruption of the sensor lead withindication of the concernedtemperature sensor. The error code -888.8 is indicated for this sensor in themeasurement result menu.

Line break: Interruption of the sensor lead withindication of the concernedtemperature sensor. The error code888.8 is indicated for this sensor in themeasurement result menu.

EEPROM: Error in memory chip.Modifications willnot be saved in case of power failure.

∆∆∆∆∆T > 51.2 K: Plausibility check, temperature diffe-rence is higher than 51,2 K; regulationfunction is guaranteed but the systemmust be checked for defect elements(pump, valves etc.).

Delete the code: Reset status of error messages.

3. RelayPlease check the fuses, if the solar pump is not activated bythe regulator in spite of an existing line voltage and modeswitch position to I. The relay output of the regulator isprotected by 1 can fuses T4 A which are accessible on thebase/isolation plate after removing the housing and can bechanged now (spare fuses are enclosed).
